Sean Penn is exercising his journalistic skill, reporting from inside Cuba.
The Oscar winner has embarked on a short trip to the island on assignment for Vanity Fair and The Huffington Post.
Rumours have circulated that he might interview Fidel Castro.
But his rep told E! News that there were no plans to meet up with the ailing former leader.
If he were to, it would not be the first such encounter.
In 2005, his family held a lengthy meeting with Castro whilst holidaying in Cuba.
... Past overseas assignments for the actor turned journalist include stints in Iraq, Iran and Venezuela.

I hope he stays away from johnboats.
Report what how good the chronic is and how good the red light women are
Please stop by the FReepathon thread and give it a bump. If you haven’t donated yet, please give it some thought.
Thank you!
Will miss it...I’ve got to clean the toilet.
Funny how we never hear Cubans reporting from Cuba.
I never miss an opportunity to miss Sean Penn.
Sorry to tell you, they’re doing their damnedest to turn your television into one.
Who? Is he the guy that makes the tennis balls?
I have purposely added “Sean” to each tennis ball I have. Makes me feel good every time I hit one, even if it’s out of bounds.
BTTT!!!!!
There is secret code embedded in the salsa (wink).
“In 2005, his family held a lengthy meeting with Castro whilst holidaying in Cuba.”
And I’m just *sure* Penn stayed in one of the hotels that average Cubans use and not say, one of those “foreigners with hard currency only” places that have the best food, drink, facilities, etc.
Penn’s a very good actor, but boy howdee is he an idiot.
After watching “Into the wild,” I’m convinced Sean Penn has brain damage.
Excellent point.
I hope the commies keep his sorry ass. What a worthless POS!
Is he going to be making a career change from an actor to a reporter? Is that because 1)he consistently flops at the box office, 2)he is trying to get noticed by the heads of commieland for a script, 3)or he couldn’t get a visa to Cuba as an actor/regular citizen so he calls himself a reporter to circumvent the system. Regardless, if he likes it so much, seriously, why doesn’t he move there?
“Funny how we never hear Cubans reporting from Cuba.”
Enchi, you hot tamale, you know I will support free trade in salsa across all political and geographical boundaries. ;^)
Medium and mild varieties excepted.
