Hoffman surges into lead in NY-23 (300 LV - small sample size)

Washington - A poll released today by the Club for Growth shows Conservative Party candidate Doug Hoffman surging into the lead in the special election in New York's 23rd congressional district to replace John McHugh, the former congressman who recently became Secretary of the Army.

The poll of 300 likely voters, conducted October 24-25, 2009, shows Conservative Doug Hoffman at 31.3%, Democrat Bill Owens at 27.0%, Republican Dede Scozzafava at 19.7%, and 22% undecided. The poll's margin of error is +/- 5.66%. No information was provided about any of the candidates prior to the ballot question.

This is the third poll done for the Club for Growth in the NY-23 special election, and Doug Hoffman is the only candidate to show an increase in his support levels in each successive poll. The momentum in the race is clearly with Hoffman.

I think it’s time to tell the minor candidate that she’s splitting the Republican vote, and that it’s time to drop out.

I want Hoffman, but this looks like a push poll.

If Hoffman pulls this off (which I think he will), this may be the first shot in a political revolution. Both parties, not this the GOP are going to be scared sh-tless.

I’m not going to put a lot of faith in this small sampling. I’ll only say that should Hoffman eke out a victory, it will be the blow we’ve been waiting for against the RNC, NRCC, and RINOs throughout the Republican Party. That would be wonderful to see.

Good news but still to close to call based on the margin of error. Time to send more money to Hoffman!

MEMO TO NEWT GINGRICH:

Newt, you said this on Laura Ingrahams show and repeated it word for word on another FOX news TV show this weekend.

You say it’s best to have “local” people making the endorsement decisions. Laura corrected you and now I will because you’re looking STUPID.

It was a handful of Party BOSSES who made the unilateral endorsement without LOCAL INPUT.

So please correct yourself Newt - don’t play the support the chairmen game because you want their support for Presidient in 2012 - we see right thru your seld-interested motivation.

I got a call pimping his new book. I told the caller I agreed with what he said in his pre-recorded message but his unrelenting support of Dede was in total opposition. She seemed to understand.

If Dede is running because she wants change and to really do good then her duty is to quit right now.

Probably not what she would hope for but thats life.
Lets see who she’s really for, Herself or the rest of us.

Club for Growth is the major actor behind Hoffman, bless their souls. Someone else should be doing the polling, and the sample size needs to be larger. I would say this is analogous to having a PEW or CBS poll.

I agree. I tend to be skeptical of campaign polls.

The chances that Dede will win this race is the same chance that pigs can fly.

I agree. Our version of a dailyKos/R2000 poll. But encouraging nonetheless.

Yeah, I take this with a grain of salt. Until it’s followed by other polls which shows Hoffman is at least statistically even with Owens, I will not celebrate it yet. I am not surprise, though, if he is already in the neighborhood of 30%.

And hopefully the first of many blows against the RINO infestation.
