How Can Glenn Beck Be Right on So Much and Yet Still Believe the book of Mormon? (serious question)

What do his religious convictions have to do with anything?

Faith involves all that one is, including the intellect.

Many of the greatest intellects in history have been papist Catholics (Augustine & Aquinas spring to mind).

Fides et Ratio (Faith and Reason - meaning that neither one suffices alone) is one motto of the Church.

Regarding Beck, one who applies his intellect when seeking truth about God cannot remain Mormon.

Human beings often compartmentalize, and Beck does this when it comes to his religion: he does not apply his intellect to his faith because he likely understands that he dare not.

Happily, the papist Catholic Church has, for millennia, encouraged the most learned men to test and scrutinize every aspect of Christian doctrine - and this doctrine endures.

agreed. Unfortunately, this forum has some bigots who spread this anti-mormon hatred. They are truly unamerican lowlifes.

It’s arbitrary to cut them off from a belief system.

Religion is not some altered form of thought. It is nothing but beliefs, so what a person believes is extremely important to understanding who they are, where they are coming from, and if their ideas can be believed.

Beck is dead-on 99% of the time and I appreciate his efforts despite his Mormon beliefs. The Mormon thing does call into question his ability to rationally think.

So long as they're not part of his daily show, I agree. And it's not.

Strange, how even old time Freepers are jumping on the liberal wagon on this one.

Classic just like "What does Bill Clinton's personal life have to do with his ability to be a good president?"
