Call it sanctuary on wheels: San Francisco is about to give a big break to people, many of them illegal immigrants, who are caught driving without a license.
Beginning Sunday, cops will no longer impound cars the first time drivers are pulled over without a license.
The reason: Many such drivers are in the United States illegally - and thus unable to get a license - and the officials pushing the change think that impounding their cars is an unfair hardship.

Jerry Brown has got to be rubbing his hands, thinking this is going to put the final nail in Newsom’s coffin for his gubernatorial run.
California residents HATE the fact that illegals are driving period - they threw Gray Davis out because he wanted to give them licenses. And now Newsom wants to give the illegals BACK their cars so they can continue to kill and injure citizens.
Brilliant.
this will rocket SF to the #1 most dangerous city for drivers and pedestrians (good luck to you after you’ve been hit by an unlicensed, uninsured illegal motorist). This will take the title away from Washington, DC, where the risk comes from foreign drivers with diplomatic immunity who do not buy insurance.
They passed this law knowing that most illegals can’t afford to live in the city anyway...
They would also be driving without insurance then? What would happen to me if I were caught without insurance?
1. Convictions of Vehicle as a weapon with intent to do harm.
2. Convictions of reckless driving with injury.
3. Convictions of DUI/DWI.
4. Unable to pass a competency exam (too stupid or careless to be on the road).
5. Unable to pass a competency exam (sight or physical inabilities).
How's that?
Every time will be the first time.
Anyone remember a few months back when a woman’s father and son were killed and this made big news?
Well there you have it. We need Spanish souding Sirens. May I suggest La Cucaracha.
How about emissions? Seems like the environazi’s wouldn’t allow these evil polluters in their beloved city.
Remember the argument that requiring car insurance was going to lower everyone’s rate? With 20% of the population in California illegal, not requiring licenses/insurance means every policy has to again charge a fee to cover uninsured motorists.....
hh
Did it climb up over years to cover the bribes.
I have asked tow ops. I know and they seem to think that, but I'd love to hear another version of the story.
The guys that tow for the gov. always have nicer trucks.
Boycott S.F. How can we warn tourists?
What bs. They should go back to their own countries and drive without a license.
Just using baby steps to give away and pervert our laws, Consitution and Sovereignty...so far.
It doesn’t pay to be an American.
It doesn’t pay to be an American.
San Francisco to the public: obeying laws is for suckers.
Good question...they can’t.Just look at Jim Janklow.
I found it...

Illegal Alien Edwin Ramos Kills 3 In San Fran

Edwin Ramos (born 1986)[1] is a Salvadoran illegal immigrant to the United States and member of the Mara Salvatrucha (MS-13) gang. He is the suspect in the June 22, 2008 triple murder of Anthony Bologna and his sons, Michael and Matthew, in San Francisco. If convicted, Ramos faces life imprisonment without parole. As a teenager, Ramos committed two violent crimes but was not deported. Ramos’s case brought much attention and outrage over San Francisco’s sanctuary city policy that prevented city officials from enforcing federal immigration law. Shortly after the murders, San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom revised the policy to allow the city to refer undocumented juvenile felons to federal authorities.

How’s that?
Not bad.
Seems I was looking at it from the standpoint that you were all for people driving without a license.
