A new study examines the costs of education, health care and incarceration of illegal aliens, and concludes the costs to Californians is $10.5 BILLION per year. The state's already struggling K-12 education system spends approximately $7.7 billion a year to school the children of illegal aliens. Another $1.4 billion of taxpayer's money goes toward providing health care to illegal aliens. The same amount is spent incarcerating illegal alien criminals. Back in 1994 California voters rebelled and overwhelmingly passed Proposition 187, which sought to limit liability for mass illegal immigration. Since then state and local governments have blatantly IGNORED the wishes of the voters and continued to shell out public benefits on illegal aliens. Predictably, the costs of illegal immigration have grown geometrically, while the state has spiraled into a fiscal crisis that's brought it near bankruptcy.

No. The globalists did it to the U.S.
You act like Californians are all foreigners. Plenty of us are U.S. non-hispanic citizens.
CAN'T YOU READ? IT WAS THE COURT THAT OVERTURNED THE WILL OF THE VOTERS!!!
Amen again! And, oh, CA is the home of Free Republic.
Cap and tax comes before that, and it's even worse.
Was it a federal court? If so, we are in the throes of Mr. Jefferson’s feared “tyranny of the judiciary.” We have been for a looonnnggg time — because we keep ELECTING IDIOT PRESIDENTS and REPRESENTATIVES who APPOINT THESE AZZHOLE JUDGES TO THE BENCH. It’s gonna take a long time to solve that one.
If the court involved was composed of elected judges, that SHOULD have been an easy one to solve.
And I can read just fine.
Can you get off your ass and get out there and light a few of Sam Adams’ “brushfires in men’s minds?” I’ve been at it for over 30 years — and have all the proof of that — and the battle scars — you’d ever care to see).
That I haven’t been more successful in saving YOUR nation from our present mess could be because I don’t recall seeing you out there.
Yes of course—it’s someone else’s fault. Glad you have no welfare in California.
Hank
I'll leave you with something too...

For all the folks that are ready to throw GWB and the Republican party by the wayside , you have to acknowledge what that would accomplish....maybe not immediately, but certainly if you set the stage for any Dem President in 2008. If these sacrifices are worth it....go ahead.
Bush's tax cut would be revoked.
His No Child Left Behind would be gutted (except for the money to the schools) guaranteeing ignorance from public school graduates.
The Medicare plan would drop private company's participation and be totally government run and funded, just as Gore wanted.
There would be no chance for additional conservative judges to be appointed for any level, much less the Supreme Court. Repeal of Roe v. Wade would be impossible.
Illegal immigrants would be given amnesty and citizenship, guaranteeing Dem control of many southwestern states. No wall, no nothing!
America would turn tail and run from Iraq, making OBL very happy, and letting the rest of the Muslim world know we are the wimps OBL says we are.
Iran will get a nuclear weapon.
Israel would be abandoned in favor of Palestine.
No new refineries, no nuclear plants, no drilling for oil or gas in the continental US would be allowed.
Labor unions will be running homeland security.
We can watch while every moonbat charge of the last six years is investigated by Congress....tying up the Administration and the military testifying.
No true conservative could allow a Dem win in November!

Oh well....
Gezzz...Even your link don't work...Stop drinking the cool aid friend...Can't ya see what Bush and his party did to this country? From immigration to the start of the massive bankster bailouts.....His legacy *is* Obama....
No, Obama is the legacy of one issue “conservatives”, that handed our nation over to marxists, but kept their “principles”.
You will really enjoy the Democrat version of immigration reform, and there aren’t enough Republicans in the House to stop it this time.
Keep up the good work!
Which issue is that hun?
“This member of the Government was at first considered the most harmless and helpless of all its organs. But it has proved that the power of what the law is ad libitum, BY SAPPING AND MINING SLYLY AND WITHOUT ALARM THE FOUNDATIONS OF THE CONSTITUTION, can do what open force would not dare to attempt.”
Thomas Jefferson on the Supreme Court. Letter to Edward Livingston [1826]
Here are the words of one of the Founding Fathers warning about an activist, imperial judiciary exceeding its true constitutional authority. AND THAT’S WHAT WE’VE GOT IN SPADES!!!
Of course it was illegal immigration, and honestly, I could never figure out why.
It was not an issue in the 2000 or the 2004 election. From most estimates, illegals sneaked in at about the same rate annually as they had for years.
GWB always had the same policy on immigration, and with the economic boom from 2003-2007 (an unemployment rate as low as 4.6%), illegals had little impact on Americans looking for work.
To me, to throw away thirty years of conservative progress because of GWB’s immigration policy was unforgivable. I’ve watched politics since the 60’s, and saw this exact same debate under Reagan anyway...they legalized the illegals here and it didn’t destroy the country.
When a large portion of conservatives lost it over illegal immigration, it greased the skids for a Democrat takeover. That same portion used every chance to bash Bush over Meirs, the port snort, spending, etc., to make their position on immigration seem justified. They might as well have been on the Democrat payroll.
Just look at what we have now. I saw it, warned people against it, and now am staring straight at the consequences of it.
Democrats will now ram through immigration reforms far worse for the country and far better for illegals than anything in the last Senate compromise bill. I still think that was the best compromise conservatives could have gotten, and I believe you will see that shortly....especially if Obama fails with healthcare and needs something to beat conservatives over the head with.
When you look at the damage Obama/Pelosi is doing right now, its obvious that Democrats were a far greater threat than Mexicans ever were.
Thanks for a civil discussion (you only managed to call me a Tokyo Rose..I’m used to traitor, quisling, illegal lover, etc..), but I’m about tired of it. It doesn’t matter much anyway as far as I’m concerned, the damage has been done and I’m beating a dead horse.
I just couldn’t resist posting when people blame Mexico for our own immigration enforcement shortcomings that go far beyond the eight years GWB was in office. I should have known better.
Can you even recall what happened this morning?
What do you think happened way back in 1994?
Do you have the slightest clue?
Ya see, this absolutely proves you Republican party groupies are completely disconnected from any semblance reality.
Californians have have been screaming, protesting, voting, organizing, and fighting out of control government sponsored open borders, since the early 1990s... It's what created CA prop 187, resulting in a historic election in 1994...Guess you missed all that slick.
Let me educate you.
California Proposition would have stopped tax paid support of illegal aliens, it passed by a huge margin by a free vote of the people, only to have the Feds working in concert with their state gov co-conspirators burned our ballots and declared our free election illegal.
The people in the southwest and Cal warned the rest of the country what was coming in the late 80s and early 90s while party groupies were busy complementing each other.
The results of the massive government intrusion into CA prop 187 election, can now be seen from Las Vegas to North Carolina...
So much lawlessness, so many millions here illegally, that it has compromised and undermined our entire system, including our very electoral process, with epic fraud and corruption.
LOL it is too late to deport anyone. The time to do that was 15 years ago.
one time solution is better than paying forever.
Still too late.
