Reporting from Washington - The Obama White House, stepping in where other Democrats feared to tread, has launched a potentially risky fight with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce -- attempting to bypass the nation's most powerful business organization and develop independent ties to corporate America.
In recent weeks, President Obama, his Energy secretary and one of his other most senior advisors have begun criticizing the chamber publicly, casting it as a profligate lobbying organization at odds with its members in opposing the administration on such issues as consumer protection and climate change.

One of the things I think the White House is overlooking here is the number of businesses that belong to their local Chambers (and Junior Chambers) who could read this as a direct attack on themselves and their livelihoods. Again, the White House avoids taking into consideration the unintended consequences of wholesale use of the bully pulpit.
Ironic. The group really at odds politically with its membership is the AARP.
The Obama WH wants to treats companies like a group of antelole type prey. They will look for weaknesses and divide them out.
It is easier to shakedown companies and/or threaten them individually if they can destroy the superstructures.
As usual, I surrender. Which President was ever precluded from reaching out to any and every group he so desired?
I know full well there are lots of business men who will happily climb in bed with the Fascist in Chief. I want to ask eventually how that worked out for them.
It brings to mind the refrain from the classic oldie:
Take me in, oh, tender woman...take me in for heaven's sake...take me in, oh, tender woman...s-s-s-s-sad-d-d mistake.
Their obvious goal will be to be the last one eaten...or bit.
This is what the Chamber gets for supporting lax immigration laws. They lost a lot of membership.
Now they get smart and realize the Marxists are coming for them because they represent business concerns.

Perhaps the underlying strategy is to use ACORN to organize businesses in the community. You know, getting insider advice on how to get a mortgage could be a good thing for a small business today.
