WASHINGTON (AFP) – President Barack Obama has declared swine flu a "national emergency," the White House said Saturday, as the United States reels from millions of cases of infection and over 1,000 deaths.

He’s doing everything he can to distract everyone from the important issues like unemployment and Afghanistan. Those are less important to him. The real purpose is to create widespread panic and generate support for nationalized healthcare. I mean in an emergency where would millions of hapless people turn to, if not the govt ?

Does anyone have the total flu deaths in the US so far for ‘09?
I Googled it, and visited the CDC’s site, but it’s must a bunch of mumbo-jumbo out there. I just want the total for the year.
I’d bet that we’re still on track for an “average” year of flu deaths.
