We have turned a blind eye to what was going on in our schools for so long they are all but a lost cause I'm afraid. Their impact on the sponge like minds of youngsters has likely been profound but probably not reversible. BUT it would require a concerted and mighty effort on the part of conservatives to repair the damage.
Conservatives control so little of the broadcast and entertainment resources in the country it would be very nearly impossible to do something over the air. The larger problem may be that we have all but run out of time to do just about anything short of taking up arms. Our domestic enemies have been at work and flying under the radar mostly, for a very long time.
You are so right. Sometimes I just wonder what George Washington and John Adams would have done in our situation. Our situation is really quite different than what they faced. Even though not all the colonists agreed with breaking off from Britain, at least they were pretty much all on the same page in religion, philosophy, education, etc. They didn’t have an out of control government AND 1/3 - 1/2 of the population that was 180% polar opposites in values and philosophy, and in agreement with the oppressive government. I don’t know if it is possible to recapture the hearts and minds of that portion of the population. Some days I have hope it is possible, other times I think as many on this thread, that our options are not looking very promising. The one thing I do know, if conservatives are able to take back the government peacefully, we will have only a short window to make some really radical changes to set our country back to where it should be and educate our populace, and if we miss the window this time, there probably won’t be another chance.
