In recent months, Americans have seen our economy make strides down the long road to recovery. However, we are constantly reminded of the recession as jobless rates continue to climb. As the recovery bill continues to be implemented we must remain vigilant in providing assistance to those hardest hit by the economy.
Information was released last week showing the Pennsylvania unemployment rate for September at 8.8 percent. Although unemployment in our state is lower than the national rate, over half a million Pennsylvanians remain unemployed. A significant number of these people have been out of work for months and tens of thousands have had their unemployment benefits expire.
Pennsylvanians who have been out of work and are struggling to pay the bills cant afford to sit around while Washington continues to debate. That is why I hope that Congress acts quickly to pass a robust package to extend unemployment benefits.

I know several people in PA that are collecting unemployment simply because they can. They are not looking for jobs - that are there - because they'd rather milk the system.
He invites people to contact him, but that’s largely fiction. His lines are typically busy, his mailbox full, or staff out to lunch. When I reach a human being, they spew the party line rather than listen to a constituent. They’re condescending and mindless conformists to liberal doctrine. He and his staff are a total wasteland.
PA keeps voting these idiots into office!! Lower taxes is the simple solution. Yet PA continues to vote in Spector, Murtha, Casey, Obama!? Unbelievable!
Correct, give a tax break for every business that hires a new employee this year. (Dave Ramsey's idea).
