The Democratic chairman of the House committee responsible for government oversight has indefinitely locked Republican members out of the hearing room, following a dispute over a mortgage loan controversy

[SNIP]

The move was apparently was in retaliation for Issa's efforts to subpoena records on Countrywide's so-called VIP loan program and for a video Issa's staff recorded of Democrats darting from their chambers a week ago in the face of a vote.

The question I need to ask is if anyone else would get away with this kind of nonsense in their job? Unless of course your job was pledge master at a drunken frat house.

Do these elitists actually believe that the country is not paying attention to these juvenile tactics. What kind of people are these? My own children ( 9 and 11 ) know better than to ever do anything like that because the punishment would be severe. I think their punishment should be severe. 2010.

Fox News and the internet. Everything else is already controlled.

This is amazing.

Did Republicans ever do this when they were in the majority? I think not.

I don't think Democrats understand either democracy, or our republican form of government. Although they may not all know it, they would be at ease with the ruling methods of fascism, nazism, and communism.

Well, since we have apparently descended to banana peel level, the pubbies should force their way in the democrat entrance or in the alternative, super glue the democrat entrance lock. Maybe we should try the South Korean model with pushing shoving and fist fights in the hearing rooms.

They ought to just kick the door in, in front of the media and start yelling about the “Right of the Minority” to be heard.

Correct me if I am wrong but doesn’t true oversight imply impartiality in fact and in appearance? How can any report issued by only a partisan group have any credibility at all? This is obviously a mechanism to perform a complete whitewash. Even if the remaining panel members are completely impartial (ha, ha, I crack myself up sometimes.), the potential for abuse is so obvious that no thinking person would approve.

Kurt Bardella, spokesman for ranking Republican Rep. Darrell Issa, R-Calif., said Chairman Edolphus Towns, D-N.Y., had the locks on the Republican entrance changed Tuesday.

Mr. Issa, it's time to start breaking down doors to get your face on the news. Enough is enough.

Of course, the fact is the Republicans were free on the outside.

They should have taken the opportunity to secure the doors from the outside and symbolically imprisoned the RATs as they should be.

They could have had a great press conference telling the voters "We have them right where you want them...what should we do with them now?"

repubs always play nice, in 2001 didn’t the repubs have a majority in the senate and decide to give dems EQUAL committee membership?

The repubs have NO LEADERSHIP and have no guts to play HARDBALL with the dims, they would rather get along then get anything done.

I can’t name 1 decent repub in government right now, NOT ONE!!!!
