Rome needs to stay out of my country’s politics.

If they want to instruct their adherents in morality and virtue, in the hopes that such instruction will help to bring about good governance (viz. saving babies’ lives, for instance), that’s fine and very welcome. But when they start exerting what are purely internal powers, not to bring erring members back into the fold, but to wield political influence, they need to be reined in.

The end does not justify the means.

“Rome needs to stay out of my country’s politics.”

This statement makes no sense. Certainly the Catholic Church has some rights, or would you have the State dictate to the Church who should be approved as a speaker and who should not be approved to speak at a CATHOLIC school.

How can it possibly be “wielding political influence” if a CATHOLIC school acts to support CATHOLIC Church doctrine?

“The end does not justify the means.”

This too makes no sense. Are you comparing the Rome Catholic Church to communism because you don't like the idea of keeping an abortion supporter out of a privately owned Catholic building, or would you have the State control the Church?

Rome needs to stay out of my country’s politics. I haven't seen 'Rome' in our politics, only in stating Catholic Church doctrine.
