Officials say malls remain vulnerable
BOSTON HERALD.com ^ | October 22, 2009 | by Donna Goodison

SNIPPET: "Shopping malls stepped up security measures and terrorism awareness training after 9/11, but it’s unlikely they could prevent a shooting rampage by a terrorist hell-bent on killing, according to industry experts.

Malls lack access control, and their civilian security officers usually are unarmed, making them much more vulnerable to an attack such as the one suspect Tarek Mehanna allegedly suggested, although they are less likely terrorism targets than more high-profile, class-A office buildings, other iconic centers or power facilities.

We wouldn’t want to lose any mall dwellers.

When I saw the headline, I thought this was a Gerald Celente
piece about malls closing.
I think a terrorist attack is their last worry.

Heck. At any given time I would say that 30% of the shoppers in Texas mall's are armed. Happoo starts blasting away here and it might not last long. We do have mall's here that post “no gun” signs but these are not “legal” signs, and are mostly ignored.

Some of us have young family members who work in malls.

At any rate, this is just one more reason to carry.

Yeah, the malls are kind of empty these days. Terrorist pickings would be pretty slim if they’re looking for a grand slam.

Somehow, I’m always concerned with the security during Halloween. People walking around the street looking bloody and tortured, without anybody pay attention. And sometimes people scream too...

I have news for these "experts."

EVERYTHING is "vulnerable" to a terrorist attack.

The only thing Muslim terrorists would dare not attack are mosques in Detroit, and Barack Hussein and Michelle Obama's Wed night cocktail conga-line party in the East Room.

their civilian security officers usually are unarmed

The subtle propaganda for the civilian security force (just as strong, just as well-funded as the military!) continues.

The terrorists better hurry before the last mall closes. They are being boarded up every day. A terrorist would have to be a very good shot to hit a customer, and suicide bombers would really be out of luck.

Man, it's been years since I visited Grapevine Mills. And then only because it was next to Bass Pro Shop. Then they had some non correct sign an I ignored it. Now they have the 30-06 sign. So opening themselves up for a disaster.

I think "DC sniper," "mall attacks" and Beslan. One-offs, unless huge, don't result in much disruption in general - but a series of attacks spread over weeks or months would almost certainly result in societal change. The attitude of the elitists in government is "The public will be disarmed, by hook or by crook."

That is what I thought. There are bigger crowds at the, “Big Box” stores.
