WASHINGTON – Nicole Kidman conceded Wednesday that Hollywood has probably contributed to violence against women by portraying them as weak sex objects.
The Oscar-winning actress said she is not interested in those kinds of demeaning roles, adding that the movie industry also has made an effort to contribute to solutions for ending the violence.
Kidman testified before a House Foreign Affairs subcommittee that is considering legislation to address violence against women overseas through humanitarian relief efforts and grants to local organizations working on the problem.
Asked by Rep. Dana Rohrabacher, R-Calif., if the movie industry has "played a bad role," Kidman said "probably," but quickly added that she herself doesn't.
"I can't be responsible for all of Hollywood but I can certainly be responsible for my own career," she said.

Kidman said this was a tender scene. She is shocked, appalled, stunned that a scene with her sloshing around naked with an apparently naked almost boy lover might be seen as a sex scene.
She is quoted as saying, Oh, “It’s not about sex, you know, it’s certainly not about sex. It’s about love, it’s about being ... under the spell of somebody.”

The plot of the film was her husband being reincarnated in the body of a young boy so her description of the scene is accurate. My contention was that you called her a pedophile.
Yeah, its Dead Calm. Where her character gets graphically raped by the psycho guy and she feigns enjoyment. Kind of a sick movie in parts.
They all wh*re around to get in the horrible industry and when they makes millions and get kicked to the curb because they hit 40 - they get mad.
They haven't managed their respective careers well. Older actresses who can still find work generally started out on the stage. Moore and Stone (checked Imdb.com for this) started out in TV.

The UK has something called chavs which are working class whites and mixed race people usually on welfare. Chavs exploded as asylum seeking illegal aliens flooded in and whites have been discriminated in jobs due to political correctness. The Labour Party has worked hard to wipe out the white middle class in England.
Well chavs are feral people on welfare. Various web site are out there. The young women have a style to pull their hairback very tight which pulls back the face muscles. These women are generally poor and uneducated. This is where Obam wants us heading. Anyway it is called The Croydon Facelift.

Kate Beckinsale is a classic beauty. I especially like the roles she plays in older time periods (The Aviator, Pearl Harbor (just the role, not the movie). She is disgustingly beautiful. I don’t even want to know where her politics lie as I have built up a mental picture of her being like Ann Coulter :-P.

Zane was also in another movie like that except he was stranded on a deserted island with his wife and another guy. His wife betrayed him and moved in with the other inhabitant who was hated by Zane. The actress who played his wife was very sexy.
I saw Whiteout at a free advance screening recently. It’s set in the antarctic and is a lame thriller. It has a too short but nevertheless wonderful gratuitous shower scene.
I almost want to do a post on that. Is there anyone in Hollywood who isn't obliterating their own image out of existence with all the botox and lip work? I've seen celebrities in their 20's who are using botox. I find Kidman's gigantic fish-lips scary. The frozen botox mask faces are scary. I guess their new looks reflect the inner person - dead ghouls with frozen faces.

Great post and right on the mark. I avoid the movies for the most part anymore. Most of it is trash. I loved The Lives of Others - German film about East Germany. Rush, Bill Buckley and many others loved it as well.
