I did refrain from posting jokes about her appearance, but it seems to me that you should not treat sophomoric posts as the end of the world. Expecting 100% of FReepers to forgo poking fun at a liberal that had a picture taken looking like that is as unrealistic as expecting FReepers not to comment on Sarah Palin's physical appearance if a particularly attractive picture of her is posted.

Now, I guarantee you that a few FReepers will comment on her looks. That does not mean that Free Republic is not a serious on-line community, or that FReepers pay more attention to Sarah Palin's looks than to her conservative issue positions and political courage.

FReepers are free to post as they wish, so long as a certain amount of decorum is maintained; I would posit that making fun of Dede Scozzafava's physical appearance, or engaging in testosterone-induced praises of Sarah Palin's looks, are not the equivalent of racist posts or personal attacks on fellow FReepers.

Merely an expression of healthy and normal reproductive instincts; an instinctive preference for reproductive viability. Unlike the Log-Cabin types, whose instincts have been rendered defective.

Likewise, most healthy individuals instinctively avoid eating feces simply because it smells bad.... and gayABC hasn’t managed to invent a way to desensitize the olfactory sense... yet.
