NEW YORK -- Even as the nation's biggest financial firms were struggling and the federal government was spending hundreds of billions of dollars to save many of them, the companies as a group were boosting the perks and benefits they pay their chief executives.
The firms, accounting for more $350 billion in federal bailout funds, increased these perks and benefits 4 percent on average last year, according to an analysis of corporate disclosures filed in recent months.
Some chief executives, such as Kenneth D. Lewis of Bank of America and Jeffrey M. Peek of CIT Group, the major small-business lender now on the brink of bankruptcy, each received about $100,000 more than a year earlier for personal use of corporate jets. Others saw an increase in the value of chauffeured services, parking or personal security.

That explains who exactly benefited from the bailouts.
Spending people's hard-earned tax dollars ('bailout' dollars) on the use of luxurious corporate jets (like Gore with his Gulfstream IIB). Go***** fat cats.
1st Timothy 6:9 But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition. 10 For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows. 11 But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness.
Welfare queens.
Also crackpot CEOs with ten, eleven and twelve figure net worth values.
“ten, eleven and twelve figure net worth values”
(a) that is your slander of them? that they have money?
(b) 12 figures would be approaching a $trillion. Name one.
The ideologues who dominate Conservative Inc. have a blind eye for these vampire capitalists, and they are destroying this country right along Obama. I wouldn’t be suprised that one of the fanatics will show up on this thread and throw around the “race card.”
“vampire capitalists”
Mmm hmm. Nice demonization of an opponent before they even show up by the way. The S.C.U.M would be proud!
What would you like? Greater government regulation? Tax them to hell maybe?
No apologies for dirtbags who can borrow at 0% and then screw the little guy, just to cover their poor operations and pay themselves a giant year end bonus. No sir no apologies for people who gave Obama a BILLION dollars for his election. 20% unemployment and still the fanatics are covering for every over paid crook from the GSEs to GS to the credit card companies.
OK, that all sounds very angry and demonizing (”fanatics”), but what about the questions I asked:
What would you like? Greater government regulation? Tax them to hell maybe?
We have real arguments, not abstract emotional stuff like the left uses. That’s why the people are still with us. Because the left is wrong, and we are right. Emotional arguments may seem valid for an hour, but only real truth will last. If you have any real argument, other than “they screw the little guy” strawman type stuff, I’d be very happy to hear it?
And stop with the petty demonization of anyone who disagrees with you please. We were seeing the same thing from the pro-drug people a couple of days ago.
Lets bring back hapless Chris Cox and let GS set regulation with Greenspan “ARMS are good” as the FED head, puleeze.
Jealous
So instead of admitting our government made a gigantic mistake by becoming ‘bailout nation’, they demonize profitable companies.
Saul Alinsky tactic. To cause division over a real OR perceived slight....
Exactly right on.
