“I endorsed the Republican who has been endorsed by the National Rifle Association, opposes the Obama health plan, signed the ‘no-tax-increase’ pledge, and supports a comprehensive energy plan like I do,

Anyone got the fact check on this?

She signed that pledged a few days ago after being pummeled for refusing to. She refused saying tax increases might be necessary.

She would vote for a tax hike in a heartbeat.

The NRA has indeed endorsed Scozzafava. When it comes to the Second Amendment, I am a single issue voter and a NRA endorsement erases a multitude of sins. Not only that, the NRA gave her an A rating. There's lots of Republicans who don't get an A so surprising a NY RINO would. Be that as it may an A from the NRA gets my support as it should.

It’s all true. THere are other issues where she’s a liberal.

I still think Markos (DailyKos) endorsed her precisely to cause trouble.

But she’s very liberal on a host of issues.

I don't have a dog in this fight, and don't know much about NY politics, but I checked this... NRA Endorsement. Apparently, the NRA did endorse her based on her record in the NY legislature.

Being from Pennsylvania, I have seen many small town good guys change over night once they had to win big town votes. Politicians are politicians and once it becomes a profession and a source of lively hood, (and BTW, government becomes and industry, the biggest in the world), endorsements and promises don't mean diddly squat. They will switch on a dime if it means re-election.

Beyond that, Newt is all about pontification, he's great at it... and that's about it. All Hat, No Horse Newt. But we're in at freaking war here and we need someone good at fighting, not theorizing!
