What do we really know about the 2009 H1N1 swine flu vaccine? What do we really not know?
Questions about the safety of the vaccine persist. Surf the Internet or flip through TV stations and you'll encounter a multitude of myths and a whole lot of hype.
What are the facts? Straightforward answers follow these questions:
Is the 2009 H1N1 swine flu vaccine safe?
Isn't the 2009 H1N1 swine flu vaccine too new to trust?
Why should I believe what government scientists say about swine flu?
Doesn't the H1N1 swine flu vaccine contain thimerosal?
The 1976 swine flu vaccine wasn't safe. Why should I trust this one?
We don't really know what drugmakers are putting in the swine flu vaccine, do we?
Is the 2009 H1N1 swine flu vaccine safe? The hype: Don't worry, the swine flu vaccine is perfectly safe for everyone.
The myth: Don't take it: We have no way of knowing whether the swine flu vaccine is safe.
The facts: No vaccine is 100% safe for everyone. People with allergies to eggs, for example, can't take flu vaccines because eggs are involved in the manufacturing process.
And flu vaccines cause mild but common reactions. About one in three people get a sore arm from the shot, some with a little redness or even swelling. Some 10% to 15% of people feel tired or get a headache; some may even run a low fever.
And vaccines can trigger rare but serious reactions, even among people with no apparent allergies or sensitivities.
So if vaccines aren't 100% safe, why risk them?

My wife is a clinical pharmacist and is getting both the regular flu shot and H1N1.
I just got my regular flu shot 10 minutes ago.
They are both safe.
I’ll pass.
I made the decision, not to take the shot....................now it is irrelevant, I just had H1N1.
I know this doesn't apply to today's flus or flu vaccines, but about 8 years ago I got the seasonal flu shot. A few days or a week later, I came down with the worst flu of my life... I could barely get out of bed for days. I have no idea if if I "caught the flu" from the flu shot or if the vaccine just didn't do the trick...
Under normal circumstances, I would not be concerned and I would get the vaccination without worry.
However, I trust absolutely NOTHING that comes from the Obama administration, period.
Their incompetence and total lack of integrity has set new records...... all bad.
Although in a much different context,Reagan once said, “Trust, but verify”.
With Obama and his tribe, I say, “Trust absolutely nothing from that bastard”.
They aint stickin that needle in MY H1N1.
I’m with you...100%.
Same here. Instead, I’m boosting my immune system to help prevent flu or swine flu, or anything else that comes along. I don’t remember the last time I was sick.
I wonder why the Obama daughters did not take the vaccine????
Does O know something we don’t know?
If it can be shown that there is more vaccine going to liberals and commie-enabling -12bama voters, then I'll consider getting in line.
I asked my physician why the FDA did not approve the swine flu vaccine. He told me they did approve it. I checked. He was right. It was approved after they waived all of the qualification testing.
This is as hoaky as it gets. Next question: Why were the qual tests waived?

wrong, man you drank the koolaid didn’t you ...
Grow up.
So far, I'm going to take my chances with this year's seasonal flu and H1N1. I don't plan to get either vaccine...
You mean like his claim that both are safe? The H1N1 that was supposedly tested via a mock vaccine and some that will be made in china, I grew up along time ago, that’s why I no longer drink koolaid ...
The testing will be done on the general population, that’s all.
