Obama may attend Copenhagen summit if there is climate change progress (Gumby likes Copenhagen)

peaking at a special meeting in London to progress the talks, Todd Stern, the US Special Envoy for Climate Change, said Mr Obama agrees that a deal on climate change must be made in December.

“If the kind of progress is made that warrants the presence of leaders then we will certainly consider that,” he said.

Earlier in the day Gordon Brown, the British Prime Minister, had warned there is “no plan B” if the world fails to stop global warming, and urged Mr Obama to attend the meeting. Without his presence, any agreements would be seen as worthless.

The US has been unwilling to sign up to tough cuts in carbon emissions, while developing nations like China do not want to restrict their own growth by cutting down on fossil fuels.

Frustrated negotiators have warned that the talks may fail if world leaders do not take action.

However in renewed signs that the US will make concessions, US officials said Washington is behind the deal to keep global temperatures below 3.6F (2C).

Mr Stern appeared to suggest that the US may also be considering easing pressure on developing nations to agree to long-term cuts in greenhouse gas emissions. At the G8 in July, they demanded a 50 per cent reduction by 2050.

Speaking about a potential deal at Copehnagen he said: “I don’t know whether that is going to be included or not.”

Since the majority of us believe wholeheartedly that gorebal warming is at best junk science don't these empty commie heads like Obammy know that we're on to them?

To continue to rule a populace whose majority believe you're a nut case has to be difficult. Let's pause for a millisecond, no make that a nannosecond to feel sorry for this phony piece of crap that would rule and ruin us all.

Obama is learning from his mistakes made in the Olympics fiasco. He will not set foot in Copenhagen unless the conference produces an agreement he can take credit for.

Brilliant minds out there...a global warming conference in freakin' Copenhagen in December.

I'll never forget February of 1978, Vulcan ASP at Todendorf, roughly 200-300 mi SE of Copenhagen. I could've sworn those 20mm bullets were bouncing off the Baltic. I've never been so cold in my life.

First off, Obama isn’t a King, so he doesn’t ‘rule’.

He is an elected President, so he ‘governs’.

I know! I know! He acts and talks and thinks he is a King - but that is a whole different debate.

These a$$holes shouldn’t sign this Treaty. It is flat-out wrong.

3.6 Farenheit is not 2 degrees celsius. (It is -16C) I am not sure we should shoot for that temp, btw.

Wonderful, wonderful Copenhagen
Friendly old girl of a town
'Neath the stars at night
They will shed their light
On my scepter and my crown
Wonderful, wonderful Copenhagen
With Queen Michelle at my side
We'll drink one down
In this merry town
And eat herring, chicken-fried

Would this not qualify as an impeachable offense?(I know, I know, fat chance with this joke of a Congress)
