EL CENTRO, Calif. (AP) - Esteban Contreras had a bad feeling when his daughter and her husband said they were going to sneak across the border with their children.

He remembers telling his son-in-law: "You're going to put your children's lives in danger. You're going to put your wife's life in danger, your own life."

"He replied that he found a good smuggler, that everything would be all right, nothing would happen," Contreras said Friday in an interview with The Associated Press.

Sounds bad to me.

Typical sob story. The Mexicans are the biggest whiners that ever lived, bleeding the gringo and the gringa all the while, wiring billions of US dollars back to the villages every year. Yeah, it's bad .... for America.

500,000 illegals march on Dallas Texas in 2006 making demands

That's not a protest march...it's a target rich environment.

Then again, maybe not.

Mexico must really suck!

It does indeed. Their economy is in shambles, war in the streets, utter chaos.

Enforce the laws and this would not happen.

You’re darn right. With oil, gold, lots of precious minerals, verdant land for growing crops of all kinds AND pre captia more billionaires than any oher Western nation in the Western Hemisphere, Mexico is the richest country in Latin America. Its also THE most coruppt country in the world. It is in the condition its in because of the Mexicans themselves. Rather than do something about and fix their country, their elites tell them to go ‘’El Norte’’’ and let the gringos take care of you. They ‘’owe to Mexicans’’ is the prevailing sentiment. I’m sick of this arrogant attitude on their part The Loerd helps those that help themselves’’ High time the Mexicans understood this. Its not the responsibility of the US taxpayer to make up for Mexicos short comings.

Which reminds me. Just how bad is it in Mexico that healthy people who are loyal to their own kind and their own kind only are willing to risk their lives to get to America? Mexico must really suck!

It's truly terrible. Mexico quite possibly has the most corrupt government on the planet. Every aspect of live there is steeped in corruption, bribes, favoritism, crime, cheating, and graft.

But: until the people of Mexico decide that it is worth risking everything to make it better, it will never be better.

Freedom, as they say, is never free. There are no shortcuts. Coming here and sending money home doesn't fix anything. It just dumps more money into propping up a rotten system.

Its up to Mexicans to fix Mexico. Not us, not anyone else. They need to decide whether freedom is worth fighting for.

“More suffering to be laid at the feet of gutless & opportunistic politicians, unscrupulous employers and greedy race hustlers.

They’re racking up quite a body count with their intentionally lax immigration policy. They will answer for their selfishness one day. “
