People.com said Monday Polanski had been transferred from prison to a hospital in Zurich Friday to undergo tests for an undisclosed medical condition. He reportedly was expected to stay at the facility for several days.

The magazine's Web site said the ailment is a pre-existing condition that cannot be treated while Polanski is behind bars.

The Swiss newspaper Blick said Polanski was also admitted to the hospital for X-rays on a previous occasion since his arrest.

"His general condition is no longer satisfactory," People.com quoted Polanski's lawyer, Herve Temime, as saying in a radio interview. "But the situation isn't easy for any prisoners, even less so for a man the age of Polanski. One has to be attentive."

I'll bet that he's back in France within two weeks, either with medical permission or else just wandering away from the hospital to a waiting car.

His escape gland is all swollen and he needs a guiltectomy.

I’m sure it is difficult for a 76 year old to be in prison. But if he had just taken his lumps at 44, he would have been out of prison by 46, and almost everyone would have forgotten why he was released from prison after 30 years.

Make choices and deal with consequences. Some call that unfair, I call that life.

He has a severely inflamed ego and long term atrophy of the conscience, and ever since he was arrested, weak knees and chronic sniveling.

This is a joke. He will be headed back to France ASAP, for treatment.

Were it my family, I’d be staked outside the front door of that hospital with my 300 win mag. Just consider it death by lethal injection.

Back to France for champagne and caviar therapy. Apparently, unhappiness is a medical emergency for Polanski. Who knew he was so SENSITIVE TO SUFFERING????
I hope that the hospital in LA offers to treat his ‘delicate’ condition.

It won’t surprise at all if he escapes to France, I think he’ll try if he gets the chance. I don’t think France will be as welcoming as it was before; I’m hoping that Sarkozy will even allow extradition; this is probably just wishful thinking on my part, but Sarkozy is so much better than any previous French president that it gives me hope that he’ll do the right thing.

I don’t think France will be as welcoming as it was before;

I get the impression that the general feeling among the French was "Uncultured America persecuting an Artist" until the facts came back to the surface. Then among the lower and middle classes it became "America wants rapist returned for punishment". I don't know about the upper class and the arts crowd over there. Even the Hollywood crowd here has largely shut up (or the media is stifling them) when the public opinion about him switched from "persecuted director" to "pervert scumbag who drugged and anally raped a 13-year old".

Just sell him part interest in a NFL franchise. That’ll make it all better.

No guilt involved. It is all fear at this point.
