I’m reading “Influenza” by John M. Berry about the pandemic in 1918-1919. It came first as a very mild form but then spread throughout the world as and after many “passages” turned into a “quasi-species” swarm. I don’t really understand it but this particular version gets worse the longer its around and then it pops up in its most horrible form all over the world. I think I did read that they are thinking this stain is similar to the one that caused that epidemic. I’m not hoping to get the shot as soon as possible.

The H1N1 is not mutating as they thought it might....but they deal in worst case scenarios because that’s what brings in the biggest bucks.

I’m really on the fence about the shot. Only 2 flu shots in my 51 years and good immune system. However, if I wanted to get the shot ..I couldn’t find a shot. WTF? It’s not like the stupid ass government didn’t know this was coming. HOW COULD ANYONE IN THEIR RIGHT MIND WANT GOVERNMENT RUN HEALTH CARE WHEN THEY CAN’T ROLL OUT FLU SHOTS IN A TIMELY MANNER!!!!

CLEAN HOUSE IN 2010! Repopulate the White House in 2012 (if it’s still standing).

I haven’t read this book, but I am curious if you know whether the fact that there had been a 4+ year world war, and its sufferings, and if it had anything to do with the susceptibility or transmission of the influenza during this time. Just curious.

My husband and I have the flu right now (in WA state) and have been told it has to be swine flu because regular flu hasn’t started here yet. I would just say “mild flu” my A$$. We’ve had it for 7 days and can’t get rid of it...fever, cough, sporadic sour throat, nausea, among other equally irritating symptoms. The doc says we are probably passing it back and forth to each other so we’re wiping the whole house down with chlorox wipes today and washing everything in site. I can see how this flu would be hard on kids and the elderly. We had our first death from swine flu in King County recently.
