As the H1N1 flu outbreak strikes the U.S. early and hard, health officials are pointing to a worrisome number of child deaths and warn that supplies of vaccine will remain scarce for at least the next couple of weeks.
Delays in producing the vaccine mean 28 million to 30 million doses, at most, will be divided around the country by the end of the month, not the 40 million-plus doses that states had been expecting. The new count from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention means anxiously awaited flu-shot clinics in some parts of the U.S. may have to be postponed.

Shucks! And I’m just a regular citizen, not some extremely high paid gubmint employee.
Don't have to listen to the CDC. That it hits and kills younger people, healthy young people, has been in the papers around the world for months. Average age of death in Australia where the flu season has ended was 58 or so. For the normal seasonal flu it is over 80.
We need the case fatality rate.
CDC is the best data shop on the planet.

The CDC and the MSM both work for the same person.
It is certainly true that this was the first time in history that this many people, mostly young men, had been so mobile. The flue started in my state, Kansas and jumped first to Camp Funston and Camp Riley in north central Kansas and then basically to the rest of the world. Its a fascinating if somewhat pedantic read. I’m listening to the audio version as I walk and need to look at the hard copy to find out whether it is appropriately bookmarked but I’m guessing it is.

According to CDC numbers, an average of 75 children have died from seasonal flu every year since the 2003-2004 flu season.

Notes:
1. Five deaths have been added from the Los Angeles County website, and have been placed in the list as accurately as possible.
2. Based upon percentages, it would be reasonable to assume that another 5 or so unreported pediatric deaths have occurred in Puerto Rico.
3. These numbers are based upon the google spreadsheet maintained by howmanydays, and further details on these deaths may be gained from the link below. In the event of discrepancies, the information on the spreadsheet should be accorded precedence.
4. In their report dated 10/2, the County of Los Angeles reported four pediatric deaths for the year 2009-2010; in their report dated 10/9, they had lowered their total to three. The fourth death has been removed from this list.
5. This list erroneously reported a pediatric death in Waukesha, WI. This death was removed on 10/11.

My daughter has an 8 week old and 2 boys in grade school. Her concern is for the baby. She called our family physician a few times and was told that they didn’t have the vaccine. Her friend’s mom-in-law is the head nurse in this practice and had her family come in for the shots. She then told her that my daughter was getting the runaround. Yesterday afternoon, our entire family got the vaccine. My husband and I,who are in our 60’s, would not have been given a priority but the nurse told the staff that we have constant contact with the infant so we were eligible.
We don’t normally get flu shots but it eased my daughter’s mind so what the heck.
If anything they (Fed’s, CDC, WHO, etc) have been under reporting cases and severity.
I’m a label reader. Grocery shopping takes forever! No partially hydrogenated oils, no high fructose corn syrup, and no MSG. I won’t put vaccines in my body because they contain mercury (25,000% the amound we can safely be exposed to, in some vaccines), MSG, and tissue from aborted human babies. The gubmint will not tell me what is in the vaccine. That scares me.
You know what I really like about our news media? For the past few weeks, they've been running stories about the uncertain safety of the flu vaccine. Now that they're done with that, they're going with the old standby: not enough vaccine to go around.

In the same week that we lost 13 children to “H1N1”, which I personally believe is a figment of the CDC’s imagination, we aborted 25,900 babies just in America, 805,000 worldwide. Shouldn’t we have a shot for that? Where is our outrage?
