Palin to launch new political group

SarahPAC isn’t enough?

“There will be an announcement about it coming up,” Palin associate Tim Crawford said Wednesday. The New York Post reported this week that Palin’s new group will be called “Stand Up For Our Nation.”

(News Corp. owns both the Post and The Wall Street Journal as well as HarperCollins Publishers, publisher of Palin’s book.) Crawford, who is treasurer of Palin’s existing political-action committee, SarahPAC, refused to provide any details about the new organization’s purpose or structure.

But Palin supporters say the former Alaska governor and last year’s GOP vice presidential nominee is eager to keep the public’s attention, even as she rakes in big earnings. “She wants to continue to be in a position to help causes dear to her heart and help people close to her,” said Fred Malek, a former fund-raiser for Sen. John McCain.

I figured Conservatives 4 Palin would have the skinny on what this is about, but nope. Just the basic facts over there so far. I’m assuming it’ll be the domestic-policy equivalent of Liz Cheney’s new group: Anti-tax, anti-bailout, anti-ObamaCare, anti-statism. The big question is whether it positions itself as fundamentally libertarian, replete with attacks on the Fed per the Paulnuts’ favorite hobbyhorse, or fundamentally Republican and in line with mainstream GOP talking points. My guess is the former, given how she’s trying to cast herself as a populist/purist conservative outsider as an alternative to Mitt and Huck. You’ll know she’s serious when she comes out for legalizing weed.

Exit question one: Would someone set up two political action groups if they weren’t thinking seriously about running for president? Exit question two: How come she didn’t end up partnering with Liz Cheney on Keep America Safe, anyway? It would have been an amazing force multiplier among the grassroots to see their two favorite hawkish women on the same team. Maybe each was afraid that the group would end up being primarily a vehicle for the other? Or maybe Stand Up For Our Nation is itself a group aimed at foreign policy that’ll end up competing with Cheney’s for donations. Which would be … weird.

Its pretty sad that the leaderless Tea Parties are better organized than the RNC.

During the Bush years, conservative grassroots declined, while liberal organizations sprang up and became more effective than the Dem party structure. As a result, the Dem establishment fears and does the bidding of Moveon, Daily Kos.

If conservatives want to steer the GOP to the right, then they should build right leaning grassroots organization.

Exactly. It is a group, an organization, a listening tour for real.

Romney has failed obamacare in Mass. he is a joke.

The if you vote or back a third party Ross Perot whiners will be along any moment.

They need to shut up take their PUB blinder sunglasses off and realize we need our country back and this group will help.

THE GOP gave us McCain to take a fall and get full control with a fake Newt like move. Im sick of the games.

The first person the says NO MORE MONEY to the UNITED NATIONS gets my vote.

Conservative movement is already split. Sarah is just picking up the good pieces.

It's called leadership. A commodity in severely short supply within the GOP. As for "joing with the people," what leaders do is lead, they don't follow.

And as for "splintering" the conservatve movement, there is no reason you can't support more than one grass roots group. They are presumably on the same side, after all.

The Palin bashers on FR are reaching far theyr are quite desperate.

“Keep America Safe” with Bill Kristol, Liz Cheney and Debra Burlingame is a policy, information and action group.
A great idea and great group.

Sarah Palin’s views tie into this group but this is not a
group to politicize a candidate but again for policy, information and action on the international threats we face.

Sarah Palin’s new group “Stand Up For Our Nation”
will be her comments and a starting block for a possible campaign

I really think we need a new ratification of states. The left can go broke with their socialism/communism in Ca. with 0bama as POTUS.

We will take the south/midwest from Ohio to Texas.

States can decide if they want to hug trees and go broke or America as we know it.

We need a few good leaders. Let’s do it.

The GOP gave us Dole (then muzzled him so he couldn’t use his humor and common speech) Then They gave us McCain (who has no humor) They seem to run a lottery to pick the One person who would lose in the Republican Party. Who will they nominate next? Mitt? Huckelberry? David Duke? Someone who will lose to who ever the DNC selects to win. Its rigged folks. Remember Roller Derby? The Thunderbirds always beat the Texas Bombers. The GOP is a branch of the Democratic Party created to give the illusion of a two party system. The two party system died with Ronald Reagan. Go Sarah but, I fear she will be destroyed in the Media, enveloped in scandal, or fall to an accident or assassination (Remember George Wallace?—last two elections it was black votes that kept him in office in Georgia).
We must support her in every way and if she falls, carry on her good work.

It is most certainly not the wet dream of a left winger who will they blame and tax when they fail?

As far as letting the liberal loons have two or three states and they can keep their change; the thought is not nutty at all. It is refreshing.

Anyone dare to say outloud that both political parties bow to the U.N. and McCain was told to take a dive? Because 0bama was the elites chosen one?

I suspect Sarah's will be more oriented toward domestic issues, and some of those, such as energy, will overlap with the foreign issues from time to time. At those points, she and Liz can work together, and the combination will be even more powerful than each of those women on their own!

Sarah needs to cast herself as constitutionalist working within the Republican party.

From what I've read of her opinion pieces, she's doing exactly that!

Define gold digger as you see it.

First, it’s a highly gender specific term and I’m surprised you used it here.
