During the 3:00PM ET hour of live coverage on MSNBC Friday, co-host David Shuster admitted that racially charged quotes he and other hosts attributed to Rush Limbaugh had not been verified: MSNBC attributed that quote to a football player who was opposed to Limbaughs NFL bid. However, we have been unable to verify that quote independently. So, just to clarify. Shuster did not formally retract the quote or apologize.

This is how far into the sewer the US media has fallen. And they enjoy swimming in the feces.

They have publicly admitted to spreading gossip as news.
Lawsuit bait.

In the good old days, duels were fought over when one’s honor was besmirched. There would be much less of this lying by the media if they had to meet someone with pistols at dawn.
To: chessplayer
I saw a Huffington Post article from 2006 that had some of the quotes and they claimed they were sourced by George Soros’ Media Matters (which has been known to lie at least by omission).

Why should they apologize or retract? That is something decent people voluntarily do. Besides, they got what they wanted.

They are passing the buck for legal liability issues...
“We never said he said that, we reported that this football player said he said it.”
They are trying to CYA with semantics that are false as well.
Forget the truth of anything on this one, the lawyers are in full denial and obfuscate mode.

Exceptionally lame, MSNBC!
Not sure, it's a record low, but it's definitely an award winner in the Most Pathetic Major MSM outlet category.

There, now you can truthfully say that it has been reported that Nancy Pelosi is a mass murderer

Remember how the media said it was wrong to report that there may be a tape in which Michelle Obama blamed “whitey”?
Yet here they trafficked in outright attribution (not just rumor) at the direction of members of the Obama White House.
Barack Obama should see how history treated Richard Nixon.
