We may be playing semantics here. Please clarify what you mean by mental abuse. If you are saying what the Heene’s are doing to their children is illegal, then we disagree. I think what they are teaching them is despicable, not illegal and not worthy of a CPS visit.

I never said I was a lawyer. The point of this whole discussion is that someone said the Heene’s were mentally abusing their children. Back up thread I described abuse as misusing. Under that definition I continued the discussion and said that ALOT of people abuse their children (not in an illegal way). Example, an older child always having the responsibility for a younger sibling. But because it isn’t the responsibility of an older sibling to be the primary caretaker for a younger sibling all the time, then the older is being misused as a babysitter (ie abused).
When I was talking about mental abuse of the Heene boys, I meant teaching them filth and dirty language and teaching them to lie to authorities, yelling at them, cussing at them and calling them names like stupid or lazy (things seen on Wife Swap). I think this is mental abuse although not illegal.
If you are talking about psychological abuse then we are discussing two different things. Psychological abuse rarely occurs by itself. It is usually a vehicle to keep people quiet about sexual or physical abuse, to keep a spouse from leaving etc. If you investigate physical or sexual abuse you are going to find psycological abuse. I am not sure how you would investigate a case of psychological abuse that occured by itself. There wouldn’t be clearly defined outward physical signs and symptoms.
Psychological abuse isn’t going to express itself as three unruly, undisciplined, loud mouthed kids on a rap video on youtube. They are raising obnoxious kids in a way that I don’t believe kids should be raised. I would consider that an abuse of their office as parents.
I hope that explains my position a little better. Sometimes there is a disconnect on here because we can’t keep copying and pasting every comment into the new comment and sometimes things get misread or misunderstood.
Your sarcasm/insult doesn’t really help to further the conversation. In fact, for alot of people they would just insult you back and shut the discussion down.
