Equality Virginia PAC Endorses Deeds for Governor
RICHMOND - Equality Virginia PAC announced today its support for Creigh Deeds for Governor. There is no question that for the GLBT community and Virginians who believe in equality for all, there is only one sensible choice for Governor, and that choice is Creigh Deeds, stated Jon Blair, Equality Virginia PACs CEO. While no candidate is perfect, including Senator Deeds, Virginians must support the one candidate who truly understands that discrimination hurts our economy and our families.
Blair drew the following contrasts in explaining EV PACs decision to support Deeds:
Deeds co-patroned legislation to ensure that all public employees will be protected from discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity, and pledges that he will sign an executive order to that effect; as Attorney General, McDonnell ruled that such an executive order would be illegal, stated he would not sign one as governor, and has refused to support a change in the law to ban discrimination. To attract the best public and private employees, Virginia must be welcoming of diversity and avoid discriminatory practices. Anything else hurts employers and employees, stifles economic growth, and limits Virginias competitiveness.
Deeds ultimately opposed the Marshall-Newman marriage amendment; his opponent, Bob McDonnell wholeheartedly endorsed it.
Deeds says he will support opening up state health benefits to otherwise qualified adults living in the same household as GLBT employees; McDonnell says thats for the legislature to decide.
"The number one job of the next governor will be to restore confidence in our economy and keep Virginia the best managed state in the country. I plan to make sure that every citizen of the commonwealth can contribute to the economy and to government to the fullest extent possible without fear of discrimination. Ive had a lifetime of working against discrimination in the workplace and Ill continue that work when Im Governor, Deeds responded in his acceptance of Equality Virginias endorsement.

GLBT: pronounced “giblet”.
As in,
“Giblets have been demonstrating in Washington recently.”
Oh darn...I’m sure the McDonnell camapign was waiting for the pervert endorsement.
That’s what I thought. This will send the remaining wavering independents running in McDonnell’s direction, especially in non-perv infested areas of Virginia.
That’ll help!
The giblets gave Deeds just the push he was looking for. Hey Deeds, put some ice on it.
Are there perv infested areas of Virginia? Did they catch the SanFranciscoProvincetown virus too?
great...
The kiss of death.
Northern VA is home to a large number of federal employee and other pervs. I believe that is due to the proximity to Washington, D.C., which hosts entire all perv-all the time neighborhoods around Du Pont Circle and Adams-Morgan.
Butt-buddies to stick with Creigh “Dirty” Deeds.
That is nearly verbatim how Bob answered a question in regard to this issue during the debate Monday night.
You know, I don’t care one way or the other. I am certainly not basing my vote on that issue. My original post was that I don’t think the perv endorsement will help Creigh Deeds. And that’s all want to say about it.
Thank you for the information!
Avoid Du Pont Circle and Adams-Morgan.
Unfortunately, there are some excellent restaurants in those neighborhoods, too. The night to REALLY be sure to avoid Du Pont is Halloween, when all the drag queens come out in costume and they stage a “drag race,” which has them stumbling down a public street in high heels. The local TV stations cover it religiously.
Oh.
Dear.
Lord.
I drove thru DC once on my way to FL, guess that’s it for me visiting. Oh well, I’ll get over it. :)
Thanks again for the info.
There are plenty of areas where you would feel perfectly comfortable, in particular, the sightseeing part of DC, the monuments, museums, the Capitol, the White House, Arlington Cemetery. I didn’t mean to scare you off. Those sights are really worth seeing at least once.
I can’t imagine how this will get Deeds a single vote he didn’t already have.
When I was a younger man, Du Pont was a happening place. Good times, nice ladies and the Skins were winning super bowls. Now it is a gay hook up nexus. Creepy.
Thanks for all the info.
MAYBE if there was an American administration housed in DC, I’d venture into it. But with all the light loafers and a hostile junta running things, I’ll stay away.
