You’re about as wrong as two boys f*cking afaic. Your hopeless negativism and defeatist attitude makes me want to puke. This war in Afghanistan is winnable and it is necessary. Walking away is unacceptable. You can spin it however you like but this old soldier is still shooting straight and speaking the truth. We can not allow Al Queda a sanctuary whether it be in Iraq, Afghanistan, or Pakistan. They are our enemy and they are on the run. That’s how they need to remain until they can’t run anymore or until they have nowhere left to run. If you want to throw in the towel, go ahead but I’ll not abide it.

Hang your head out the window...it’d be a shame to ruin a good keyboard. You’ve confused saving face with winning a war. Our enemy is no longer there in any force that matters - no command and control, no logistical ability, no money and no power. It’s all in Pakistan and scattered across the globe. We’re all done in that shithole. Burn the poppies, salt the ground and move on. If you want a war, do it in Pakistan WHERE THE FING ENEMY IS.

And, unless you happen to be Barney Frank, shouldn’t that be AFATC?
Great insight.
The Arabian/muslim culture is not dominated by reason it is dominated by the strong hand. Transforming this culture will take generations, but in order to do it you first have to win and that means kill the opposition.
If we don't lose first.
The "peacenik generation" and their acolytes are appeasers and cowards. They are in control of the govt, media, schools and most broadcast/print news. They have spent the last 30+ years brainwashing the American people that our retreat in Vietnam was noble. Now, these same people who have nothing but disgust for our military and our role as the preeminent world power are going to lose the WOT and the Arab nations to radical terrorists.
If we leave Afghanistan to go play in Pakistan, our enemy will resurface in Afghanistan. We worked very hard to reduce his influence in Afghanistan. We need to follow that up by ensuring that he is never welcome there again. Pakistan clearly presents a new set of problems. I’m not suggesting that we ignore that problem, not by any means. I’m just suggesting that we hold what we got in Afghanistan.
