Honduras deal in balance, talks tackle Zelaya future

De facto government says no final deal on Zelaya return (Adds quotes from Zelaya camp, U.S. official, lawmaker) -- U.S. State Department spokesman Robert Wood called on both sides to keep talking. "What we're trying to do right now, from the U.S. side, is to encourage them to continue, because, as I said, we're close, and we want to see this deal happen."

Dick Lugar, the top Republican on the U.S. Senate foreign relations committee, boosted Micheletti's drive to have the elections recognized by supporting a call for the Organization of American States to send observers for the vote.

"I strongly encourage the Organization of American States (OAS) to heed the October 8 written request by Honduran presidential candidates for oversight by international observers of the November 29 presidential election," he said in a statement on Thursday.

The domestic and foreign Socialist continue to pile on Mr. Micheletti and Honduras.

Call your congress critter and read him the riot act tomorrow. Let them know that we hate supporting Leftist Dictators at the expense of an ally. This was not a Coup as the press describes it, but Zelaya was removed with cause as per their Constitution.

There is a direct parallel with what is happening in Honduras and our out of control Congress.

“What we’re trying to do right now, from the U.S. side, is to encourage them to continue, because, as I said, we’re close, and we want to see this deal happen.”

It’s none of your effing business. Get the “H” out of the Honduran’s faces, and leave them alone. They were right. “H” EVEN the UN says they were right.

I have read that midnight is the deadline they have established in the negotiations.

The Lefties are wild to re-install Zelaya, but my money is on Micheletti and the Honduran.

Enough pressure on Congress (real anger and heat) and they the administration will back away.

Especially if we can prove they gave Lula the 2 billion dollars for off-shore oil as a bribe to support this.

It is time to turn up the burner on the Congress Critters.

The Republicans could run with this ball and really make the Dems look stupid. Some of the Republicans are already on the hunt and the scent is strong.

Wouldn't it be unconstitutional to let Zelaya back in power + doesn't he have a raft of corruption charges against him + the stealing the 2 million?

Not sure about Constitutionality, but would be a mistake for sure. He intends to destroy their Republic.

Just as Obozo intends to destroy ours.

The elections are a month away. Does it really matter if he is still in office? He was removed with just cause, so let him hang around with his socialist buddies, Chavez and Obama.

Hondurans celebrate their qualifying for the World Cup last night. U.S. helped them by achieving a tie with Costa Rica. Near the middle of the video, they start expressing their appreciation for the US.

Of course, that is the sane thing to do. Any previous U.S. President would have enjoyed helping Honduras.

But the one who sleeps in the White House has other plans. Like helping his leftist Dictator friends regain power. He does not want to set a precedent that might endanger his power.

And this is the 2nd recent time he has sided with the wrong players. He was on the side of the Mullahs in Iran. A brave people defied those dictators, but sadly were not armed and are still oppressed.

A Free people do not have to Ask.
