Sez he's for Liberty but he's a Liar.

This one hit a nerve; this is one of the most scariest, depressing and nauseating columns in my memory.

Along with Thomas Friedman's paean to the Dictatorial Politburo and his verbal fellating of the Chinese Communist party, this one makes me apprehensive, to say the least, when this yearning for a American Dictator seems to have become entrenched in the Modern Urban Male, with the educated literati opinionati openly pining for a Totaliatarian Society.

Just WoW! Not in a good way.

Read this last week and was stunned.

Shouldn’t have been but still.

Suppose this may have been the same tone used by the literati who were wowed and wooed by Stalinists back when.

Dictators have no friends. The people are sacrifices to them to be thrown out for whatever maniac whim they dream up at the moment.

I refuse to read Time, and have for 20 years. I am very reluctant to click on its website. The magazine’s Left-wing bias has sent it circling the drain, and it is making a heroic publicity effort, with the help of Google News and the MSM, to survive. I don’t want to participate in that effort. I want it to go bankrupt and fail.

Stein is a jack...! This is jaw dropping even for a liberal. We (the media?) elected a dictator?

Rats act like they are fearing a conservative backlash. This means they do not yet think they have managed to Acorn the vote safely away from angry conservatives.

Well, that was a mouth full. I suggest he make himself Barry’s person slave since he;s so keen on giving up his liberties. However, we all understand he’s speaking in royal terms...you not him.

It’s satire. Big magazines don’t put this at the end of sentences </s>

So this is how liberty dies; not with John Wayne swinging his musket in the ruins of the Alamo, but with a faggish whimper of smug approval.

This is the beginning of Hayeks steps on the road to serfdom.

To wit: The people tire of all the arguing and failure, and begin to long for a strong man who can just force things to go the right way.

This will indeed happen eventually.

Hayek was right.

I've often thought that the liberals want to go back to a, in their eyes, benevolent monarch or dictator, chosen by them, with them as powerful unelected courtiers ruling over us serfs.

Liberalism is arrogance writ large.

At first I thought this was satire. Then about midway through, I realized it wasn’t. Joel Stein really wants an Obama dictatorship.

Wow, just wow!

I don't think the author is being serious. He's a liberal yet he's calling for restrictions on internet pornography and abortion. I suppose he could be cloaking his true desires through exaggeration but it's too unclear to be sure.

No matter what the author's intention, the sad thing is a lot of readers will be oblivious to any sarcasm but will still agree with everything he's written.

I wonder how many people expressing outrage over this article have their own laundry list of consensual private activity they'd like to crack down on.

I'm all for Liberty but I'd sacrifice some rights for a tough love leader and a law against Big Gulps.

How about I'm all for Liberty but let's have a law against drinking wine.

Or a law against apartments - everyone has to live in a suburb with streets named "Merry Weather Circle"?

Or better yet - a law against being too thin - newer studies show people who are mildly overwieght live longer. Put some french fries back in those school lunches...

WOW, just WOW.

I wonder if it okay with them if I don’t want a freaking dictator in my life?
