Big deal, they brushed cheeks, which is a common greeting in many countries and is a sign of friendship and respect. All this shows is a man secure enough in his own view of himself to allow this small gesture of familiarity to a guest. To refuse would have been rude and childish. Just like defending a “squished” picture that was clearly designed to defame someone is.

Nonsense, one does the customs of the more powerful person. All the protocols are laid out in advance

See my #97...the "air kiss", which that was, is an American tradition amongst celebrities as well. And it still stands that it would have been rude and childish to refuse to do this gesture which could affect relations between the two countries. It was NOT a sign of submission as the other poster indicated.
