Burglary is merely the act of unauthorized entry, normally with the intent to commit theft or another crime. The fact that the house had been ransacked indicates they had been succesful in the “burglary” aspect of the crime. They got a big “no go” and epic fail in the exfiltration phase of the exercise, however.
