That's BS, a person is allowed to shoot intruders in his home if he fears for his life, and in this case it would have been considered justified. Now and then a local prosecutor will try to make a case of someone defending themselves in their home but they never get far with it.

However, you better make sure they are IN your home and not outside, or if they are outside they had better be armed and either getting ready to shoot you or are shooting.

in FL, deadly force is considered justifiable if one feels they in “imminent danger of severe bodily injury or death”

...even if one is out side of one’s home.
...one has no duty to attempt to retreat (stand your ground law)
...if the perp is armed with just a baseball bat, or a tire iron, or a knife, or a can of gasoline and lighter, that would be grounds enought to be in such imminent danger
