2 former colonels sentenced: Military contract case had ties to Murtha
By MELISSA NELSON
The Associated Press
PENSACOLA, Fla. A federal judge sentenced two former Air Force colonels to prison on Tuesday for destroying documents, lying to a grand jury and other crimes related to a wider fraud scheme by contractors and defense lobbyists with ties to powerful Rep. John Murtha, D-Johnstown.
The men, both engineers and graduates of the U.S. Air Force Academy, are among those accused by federal prosecutors who are looking into alleged wrongdoing by contractors with ties to Murtha, chairman of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Defense....

“ties” mean “that’s okay” to leftist.
Oopsie.... add unless it’s a Republican.
Link to the Tribune-DEMOCRAT, bad name for a newspaper.
I like the judge. Seems like the misbehavior was after retiring, so their pensions are safe. They are still a disgrace.
Regimental S-2 Murtha’s got the goods on us, I see.
What are the bets that this will end up with “everyone but Murtha” going to jail?

Yeah, it’s John Murtha’s hometown newspaper.
Tie it ti Murtha, and take him down.
LOL!

the contracting world in the AF has needed clean up for a LONG time. Too many civilians and military had become careless in their role as manager of govt appropriations, and too many wing kings or generals had pitched fits and gotten what they wanted even when it was wrong. Now the pendulum has swung the other way, and contracting is so tight it’s hard to do anything. My time in contracting really opened my eyes to the whole mess, and I don’t even begin to assume anyone has an easy fix to it. People are people even when they wear uniforms, and greed, stupidity, and pride make people do really dumb things.
My heart does go out to their families, tho’ cuz they’re marked with the same paint brush even when they don’t deserve it...

Fla. Dem gives money back to Murtha
Daniel Malloy Oct. 14, 2009
A Congressional candidate has told Rep. John Murtha, D-Johnstown, that his help is not required. Politico is reporting that Lori Edwards, a Democrat running for an open seat in a Republican-leaning Central Florida district has returned $1,000 to the scandal-plagued Democrat’s Political Action Committee. Politico’s Jonathan Allen writes that the give-back, which occurred this summer and was revealed in campaign finance reports released this week, offers “further evidence that Democrats in competitive races may want to limit their association with Murtha, who has come under intense scrutiny for his earmarking practices.”
I read that this morning, Smooth. It’s very telling in that Dems with any sense are going to start shunning the most corrupt of their cohorts, Murtha. Looks like Lori Edwards doesn’t want to be associated with him in any way, shape or form and really can’t blame her.
I wonder if Pelosi is going to finally get the message, probably not because Rangel is just as bad and she’s still supporting that crooked POS. It’d sure be nice to see the lot of them get voted out but it’s probably too much to ask for.
Here’s the link to Murtha:
A contracting firm that had hired the brother of Rep. John Murtha (D-Pa.) as its lobbyist took the proceeds from a Murtha-provided, $8.2 million Air Force earmark and distributed hundreds of thousands of dollars to other companies represented by the Congressmans brother for items that were not part of the project, the Justice Department charged Thursday.
Punk.
