Rush Limbaugh, Girlfriend Pledge $100,000 Toward Holiday Decorations (Rush Saves Christmas!)
Palm Beach Daily News ^ | Tuesday, October 13, 2009 | William Kelly

Conservative talk show host Rush Limbaugh and girlfriend Kathryn Rogers have promised the town $100,000 toward the cost of new holiday decorations.

The gift is part of $350,000 in private donations pledged by a few town residents, Town Council President David Rosow said at Tuesday's council meeting.

Limbaugh wanted to help bring "brightness and cheer" to a town he dearly loves, said Rosow, who is a friend of Limbaugh's.

Rosow solicited the donations to cover the entire cost of the new lights and garlands, and installation of wiring to support them.

"No one I called said 'no,' " Rosow said. "Everyone I spoke to said, 'This is great.' "

Rosow has said he couldn't justify spending more than $300,000 to celebrate the holidays in a year when the council expected town employees to do without raises, and trimmed their health benefits.

Rosow himself tossed in $25,000, which in turn prompted Councilman Robert Wildrick on Tuesday to pledge another $25,000.

The plan calls for annual leasing of LED lights to wrap around palms, and purchase of garland for light poles on County Road, Worth Avenue, Royal Palm Way and Royal Poinciana Way.

turning down his donation because he’s conservative

You are ready to live in Oregon. The headline here would be:

Yes, Rush has lots of “peso-nality!” He is responsible for the conservative AM talk radio revolution, and I will be eternally grateful to him. Rush and his like-minded media personalities are keeping Obama-style Marxism at bay until conservative politicians (hopefully) grow some gonads and realize Reaganism is not dead. But he also is, as are most powerful individuals, a man of great appetites. For women, food, prescription painkillers (that destroyed his hearing), you name it. If he's smart, he'll continue to date and not try marriage again...it won't work.

I misses something along the way. What happened to Rush’s former wife, Marta? She seemed a sweet person and good counterpoint to Rush.

I just wrote Rush an email telling him how sad I was that he has to go with the hot young babe way of thinking and living. It really does change his credibility.

Many many many of us have been left by rich white husbands for younger, firmer blondes. It does get old!

what about the 18 million Americans who go to bed hungry each night?

I was thinking more along the lines of the FReepathons....I've always wondered if it were Rush (we know he or Snerdley FReep like hell during his show) who was the benefactor a few years ago that sopped up the quarterly fundraiser after just a couple of days.

I’m not gonna answer your questions but I will say that 27 is obviously too much.

Rush didn't leave his wife for her.

You are projecting your own biases into his life.

Seems you should to keep them to yourself.

Rush credits her with helping him lose the weight this year with a none exercise-based diet.

Heck, do you even NEED one any more? Can’t I just be illegal, like a third of the population? Guess not....I would be coming across the northern border.

Hey,no problem.Just fly from Canada to Tijuana, learn a few words of Spanish, sneak across the border and you're in San Diego in no time.

Just out of curiosity....how do you listen to Rush? Are you near a US station that carries him or do you get him on the web? I know that his flagship station (WABC in New York) carries him for free on their website.

The small town in Maine where we spend our summers celebrates the Fourth of July with fireworks. The town budget can’t really justify the expense, so people chip in, members of the Volunteer Fire Department handle the fireworks, and everyone is happy.

I imagine this is much the same sort of situation.

Actually, here in Vermont, the town doesn’t consider it its duty to sponsor any holiday celebrations. But the community puts together a Fourth of July parade, fireworks, and an evening barbecue and music courtesy of a neighbor who donates his place and neighbors who together to do all these things. Plenty of children in the parade, and a ladies’ rolling pin brigade, as well as decorated tractors.

And although Vermont may be the least Christian state in the union, some of us get together to sing Christmas carols (in the traditional four parts) at our local, nondenominational, historic church.

And one of our Jewish neighbors gives an annual Hannukah party for the neighborhood.

As yet, no Eid.

What a disturbing picture. He looks like a leering, disgusting tub of a dirty old man. And I’m sure she just loves him for his humility and his ability to listen, not his cash.

I am close enough to Buffalo (WBEN) to get Rush, Laura Ingraham, and Sean Hannity. I also pay to have Fox News - together they keep me sane. I think the Canadian health care system should cover this cost!

Every story has two sides.

I’ve known too many men with wives who think that once child making is over, there’s no more need for physical intimacy. Many times, these women also stop showing any love and affection to their husband. Furthermore, these wives start spending more and more money on “stuff” that doesn’t benefit the man one iota.

These women don’t realize that they’ve started acting like ex-wives, and the men decide that if they’re going to support an “ex-wife,” he might as well make it official so he can find a woman who WILL treat him like a desirable and loved man instead of a eunuch with a bank account.

BTW, my wife of 20 years has noticed the same thing. Her biggest pet peeve is a woman disrespecting her husband in public.

My father is 78 and is engaged to a woman that just turned 50. I’m sure you would consider him a “leering, digusting tub of a dirty old man”. He wants to marry her and she wants to marry him and that is their business. He works out 7 days a week and considers women in their 60’s and 70’s too old and out of shape.

They are adults and should be able to do whatever they want without other people making smarmy comments.

In some parts of this great land, you also need a gun and ammo for the, um, fireworks show.

Rush can’t even do something good without people finding some reason to go after him. It’s digusting.
