BOSTON If Rush Limbaugh becomes a candidate to own the St. Louis Rams, he could face serious opposition from other NFL team owners.
It takes 24 of the 32 owners to approve any team sale, and even before Limbaugh has become part of an official bid to purchase the Rams, he's been shunned by one team executive.
Colts owner Jim Irsay vowed Tuesday to vote against him and commissioner Roger Goodell said the conservative commentator's "divisive" comments would not be tolerated from any NFL insider.
"I, myself, couldn't even consider voting for him," Irsay said at the fall owners meetings. "When there are comments that have been made that are inappropriate, incendiary and insensitive ... our words do damage, and it's something that we don't need."
Irsay is the first owner who has stated unequivocally he would reject Limbaugh because he made a habit of "demonizing individuals."

Ask the folks in Baltimore what they thought of his daddy.
Is Irsay the same owner who sneaked the Colts out of Baltimore in the dead of night?? If it is it says a lot about his character........follow the money.
One hopes Rush will fulfill his dream of owning an NFL team. I t will be interesting to watch some of these ignorant outspoken players flock to play for him....follow the money.
Screw the Colts. If I were Peyton I would tell the jerk to trade me. Peyton could make more at another team.
Irsay snuck the Colts out of Baltimore in the dark of night...literally.
He’s a creep.
Time for some anti-trust monopoly investigations of the NFL and also their reverse racism policy.
Just another example showing the emotional instability of the new castrati. They must have the approval of their emotionally immature peers in order to feel "accepted" in the social circles in which they have a need to belong.
Sad, really.
Irsay is scum, like Modell.
Political Correctness is destroying our country.
Sorta like the Taiban treat women or Christians.
For what? As a public figure Limbaugh isn't protected by the same lible laws as private individuals are. He would be better advised to work behind the scenes...and let his majority partner and his billions of dollars do most of the talking. All Limbaugh and his co-bidders have to do is convice 24 people, a lot of whom they both probably know to begin with. If they're serious about buying and the current owners are serious about selling then I really think that the deal will be struck eventually.
It would be hilarious for Tony Dungy to come out now in support of Rush.
Rush ought to go ahead and buy the team. Then pump millions into recruiting the best players. Then kick all the other team’s collective asses. Win the Super Bowl, then sell the team.
The owners vote on who they let in the league. If they vote NAY the sale is nixed.
Baltimorons in my family remember Irsay senior in less than glowing terms.
Irsay is the Teddy Kennedy of the NFL.
Wow. This is really eye-opening. So Rush isn’t allowed to own a team? Just one more reason to not watch thugball.
So who is Jim Irsey (sp?)
YOU VILL TINK ONLY DA HAPPY THOUGHTS I TELL YOU TO TINK!
