Obama's Critical Moment Approaches
Salon ^ | 10/14/09 | Camille Paglia

Thank you very much for your personal testimony. I too have been repulsed by the elitist insults flung at Sarah Palin in the massive, coordinated media effort to destroy her. Hence I have been thoroughly enjoying the way that Palin, despite all the dirt thrown at her by liberal journalists and bloggers, keeps bouncing back as if unscathed. No sooner did the gloating harpies of the Northeastern media think they had torn her to shreds than she exploded into number one on Amazon.com with a memoir that hadn't even been printed yet! With each one of these amusing triumphs, Palin is solidifying her status as a bona fide American cultural heroine.

I’m not much on her politics or lifestyle, but I have said for years that she is probably the best word smith I have read in recent times.

What I’ve learned about her is this:

She is a liberal, is the classic sense: a free thinker. (back in the day, that’s what a liberal was. It would be abhorrent for someone liberal to throw in with “the establishment, i.e. gov’t” as so called liberals do now.

Camille Paglia is:

(by her own definition and description)

a liberal
a lesbian
an academic (who is panicked over what academia has become)
a libertarian minded person (i.e. a real liberal)
and a huge fan of Sarah Palin, and all the governor represents.

Paglia is one of the most interesting human beings on the planet, IMO

Sarah Palin has a lot of grit, with patience, inner resolve, and good, old-fashioned common sense to spare; she should be filling a national office. At a time such as this, America needs her badly.

You can love her or and hate her but she is always interesting.

I think that accurately describes the feelings of a lot of conservatives (same thing with Christopher Hitchens)
