Police: Juveniles laughed after setting 15-year-old on fire

(CNN) -- Five juveniles were in custody Tuesday after a 15-year-old was intentionally set on fire at a Deerfield Beach, Florida, apartment complex, police said.
Michael Brewer suffered second-degree burns over 80 percent of his body. "He's in for a long, long recovery," Broward County Sheriff Al Lamberti told reporters.
Three juveniles were arrested Monday night, hours after the incident, and two others were arrested Tuesday, sheriff's Sgt. Steve Feeley said.
"A couple of them last night were laughing about it," he said. "One of them arrested today seems genuinely sorry about it."
The youths all attend school together, police said, and Brewer apparently owed one of the suspects $40 for a video game and had not paid it. So the suspect allegedly stole the victim's father's bicycle, Feeley said. Brewer reported the bicycle stolen Sunday, and the suspect was arrested that day, taken to a detention center and released to his parents early Monday, police said. Neither Brewer nor the suspect went to school Monday, and the victim was waiting at the apartment complex for his friends when the suspect and two other people approached him, Feeley said.
From what the suspects and witnesses have told police, the suspect yelled, "He's a snitch, he's a snitch" and "pour it on him." Another juvenile threw what police believe was rubbing alcohol on Brewer from a plastic jug and used a lighter to set him on fire, he said.

Well that’s touching. And who says that the “Yet We Can” Presidency hasn’t united the races. Thugs all of races are learning to work together these days.
Hm, it’s interesting to see how the “line of rationalization” could be made:

Then after reporting the bike stolen, and presumably it was, the kid was a ‘snitch,’ which justified burning him.

These are juvenile sociopaths. I see nothing of political philosophy here.
There doesn't seem to be a better way to deal with these kids (or kids like them).
Odds are, none of these kids are going to ever be "productive members of society". There is something down deep wrong with them that will make them predators for life.
But the Juvenile Court system will put them back on the street in short order -- to make more trouble, to harm others.
They'll be in and out of jail for the rest of their lives and die early -- leaving a trail of damaged lives and deaths in their wake.
So, yes, why not "set them on fire and laugh"?
Set them on fire.
Let them live with the disfigurement and see how funny it is to live like that.

I’m guessing the video game was hot.
My brother in law works for the Chicago juvenile justice system. He sees animals like this every day of the week, usually gang members who would make these kids look like choir boys. He has no belief in rehabilitation and can’t wait to retire so he can move as far away from people as possible.

yep, they will get next to nothing and be out Seattle’s beloved street playing ‘Tuba Man’ was beaten and stomped to DEATH by a pack of black animals, (my apologies to our furry animal pals) a while back and I think the most any of ‘em received was seventy two weeks in detention and time in custody waiting trial was put against those 72 weeks also. these little animals might get 36 weeks since their victim did not die. either way, never going to be productive as you say. not a chance. I say kill all of ‘em as soon as it can be arranged and couple of gallons of gasoline and a few matches works for me also.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. If I had to guess, I’d bet that the kid in the middle was the pack leader. The kid on the left is pretty scary, too. He’s got that nonchalant “so what?” look of a sociopath.
