Obama Picks MN Woman as 1st Openly Gay US marshal (Zero tosses a bone)

President Barack Obama has nominated a Minnesota policewoman to become the first openly gay person to serve as a U.S. marshal.
Sharon Lubinski is an assistant chief in the Minneapolis Police Department, where she has worked for 20 years.
Obama has had a rocky relationship with gay activists, who want him to end the military's "don't ask, don't tell" policy on gays. He publicly pledged last weekend to do so.

Hey, San Antonio, TX Freepers, how’s McManus messing up SA?
McManus hasn't been THAT bad here in San Antonio. He's actually been (IMHO) a big improvement over the previous chief. He's certainly not a sit behind the desk and invisible type of police executive...he's out there in a patrolman's uniform all the time. That said...I'm very happy with him so far.

What is it with Minneapolis city government? They appointed a lesbian as fire chief in 2005. A civil rights investigation later found probable cause that Fire Chief Bonnie Bleskachek retaliated against a male firefighter and denied him advancement opportunities. It also found evidence the department gave preferential treatment to women, especially lesbians.
