So what determines which is right?

If we go back to the original intent of the Founders, it would clearly be the responsibility of the presidential electors to satisfy themselves that the candidate was, in fact, eligible to be elected President. Presumably 365 electors were, in fact, so satisfied as of 15 December 2008.

The secretaries of state have the responsibility to place qualified people on the ballot for the STATE primariies. OB was not vetted in Cal, by the admission of the sec of state's office and the word of the parties was accepted.

Prior to last year the state of Cal had removed two presidential candidates because their birth certificates showed they were too young to run for president. The birth certificate is part of the best evidence to establish whether or not someone is natural born.

The failure of anyone to vett OB or the other candidates has opened up the system to fraud and corruption. All we need is for the fraud suspect to reveal his documents and we can move on (and I don't mean dot org). The fact that he refuses, means we need a court or someone else (perhaps a burgler) to force him to do so.

And how did the original founders say we should verify natural-born citizen status?
