October 9, 2009, 9:10 PM Behind the Scenes: Picturing Fetal Remains By DAMIEN CAVE The photographs are graphic and detailed, showing the fingers or toes of aborted fetuses whose entire frames are no bigger than a cellphone. Since the mid-1990s, they have appeared all over the country carried as posters by protesters, handed out with pamphlets or, in some cases, mounted like billboards on the sides of trucks.
Like many others, I often wondered about the source of these images. Who took the pictures? Where did the fetuses come from?
I had a chance to find some answers while reporting in late September on the death of James Pouillon, the anti-abortion protester who was shot and killed in Owosso, Mich. [See Saturday's presentation on the subject in The New York Times.] More . . .

The comments these jerks have left on that site are absurd.
My personal favorite: “Picture all the single mothers who are overburdened...”
ALL HAIL THE SINGLE MOTHER
This is a dupe, just letting you know.
And their next argument will be, look at all those overburdened adult children dealing with aging parents. We need to get rid of those old folks now. It just is not fair to burden people with other people.
And Pelosi, Reid, Byrdm Axelrod are all of the age their children just might want to get rid of them.
They’re only “blobs of cells.” So what could be objectionable and repulsive about them? I sense a contradiction.
