The Iraq Army, in an operation guided by the U.S. military, has captured about 150 suspected Al Qaida operatives in the north.
Officials said the Al Qaida operatives and loyalists of the late President Saddam Hussein were arrested in a crackdown in October around the northern city of Mosul. They said the mission, titled "Nineveh Wall" and guided by the U.S. military, was meant to disband the core Al Qaida presence in northern Iraq linked to neighboring Syria. Officials said many of the Al Qaida fugitives were in contact with financiers and handlers in Syria. They cited Mohammed Yunis Al Ahmad, a resident of Syria and said to have financed most of the attacks against Iraqi and U.S. forces

Capture? Now they will all be lawyered up thanks to the idiot-in-chief.
One of the things I have never understood about the Iraq war, was that we never called Iran and Syria for their treachery. They trained and sent in terrorists to kill our troops. They armed them. Even Saudi Arabia didn’t control their borders, something that should have garnered some pointed complaints on our part.
Syria and Iran could easily have been given retaliatory strikes for their treachery. We just gave it a pass.
That’s something that baffled me about the Bush administration. Why the free pass of this? We could have developed a case against Iran, that would have seen us able to make strikes on their nuclear programs.
We just skated on both matters, and it baffles me why.
Wait a minute. Syria is an Obama ally. Why are they working against Iraq and US troops?
Bag ‘Em & Tag ‘Em
“Why the free pass of this?”
I often wonder...
same here. I have never come close to figuring it out myself or thru reading others ideas on the subject. frustrating to say the least.
Thanks! Its nice to know I’m not alone on this. I was sure I wasn’t though.
No, You’re not alone by any means with that question. It’s been asked before, but around the doughnut shop the discussion always ends with shrugs of shoulders.
I have heard some remark about the wishful thinking, the hope the Iranian people would rise up and take out the Mullahs. I’ve also heard that pressure from exiled Iranians is what has kept us from action as they fear the consequences on loved ones at home. It doesn’t make sense to me as the Iranians rising up to take out the Mullahs would suffer worse consequences than should we take action I would think.
Shrugging shoulders, and going back to bed. Maybe I can get some sleep now. ;)
Thanks, and I hope you get to sleep.
Vital intel is necessary, until they're no longer needed (which they will be disposed of).
I guess the only way to get sh*t done is to get a Nobel Peace Prize winner to keep the media off his ass. If that’s the case, so be it.
This can't be so! Saddam Hussein and Al-Qaeda didn't like each other according to the Rats.
International and domestic anti-American politics pure and simple.
It is disgusting.
I believe the riots in IRAN show that if we had moved on them, we most likely would have had domestic (Iranian) allies. It would have already been over and the nuclear bomb crap would not be happening.
SYRIA would have capitulated without IRAN to hold their hand.
Instead, we stopped at IRAQ and took incoming fire from a foxhole. Now we have Neville Chamberlain as our Nobel Prize "winning" surrenderer in chief.
Interesting that this capture follows Obama working out a business deal with Syria. Syrian backed terrorists might need to watch their back.
With Obama’s lack of negotiating skills I find it very hard to believe Syria rolled over on these terrorists.
Hillary could have negotiated it, but not unless there was something in it for her.
But still if you're a Syrian backed terrorist, that has to look suspicious.
Thanks Danny. It may look suspicious to them, and I certainly can’t state that my view is correct. Perhaps we’ll hear more about this.
