A soccer mom from Pennsylvania who was thrust into the national gun-rights debate after taking a loaded pistol to youth sports events was killed by her husband in a shooting witnessed online by her video chat partner.
Scott Hain used his own gun to fire several shots into his wife, Meleanie, 30, while her video chat was active and perhaps as she washed dishes in their kitchen, police said. Mr Hain, 33, later killed himself in an upstairs bedroom.
Mrs Hains loaded pistol with a bullet ready in the chamber was in a backpack hanging from the front door. Mr Hain was seen firing the gun at his wife over the internet.

Prayers for the child.
I think there are 2 or 3 children
The liberal state run “media” is really eating this one up. They love it!
why? She didn’t kill herself with her own gun.
That doesn’t matter to the left. To them, all guns are bad. The “unwashed masses” shouldn’t have them. Only the government should have guns. According to them.
It’s not who owns the gun or guns...it’s that guns generically can not be trusted when they are always going berserk at any odd moment for no reason at all and killing whomever happens to be standing in the way.
Missing from this UK article: He was a prison guard and law enforcement officer and apparently used his service weapon.
All part of the “kill-the-wife” syndrome. If you sit there and start counting it up...it’s almost a weekly event now in the US. The neighbor girl I grew up with in Bama from thirty years ago was killed in this fashion this spring. All of these guys have some obsession about life’s screwed up and they gotta end it but they got to take the wife with them...which I can’t figure this logic at all. If you go back to the 1980s...you had a couple of isolated cases a year like this.
“To them, all guns are bad.”
That’s right. Her husband didn’t kill her, his gun did.
she was chatting on line with another man and he watched as her husband shot her, then himself.
former prison guard, a parole officer till he killed himself.
I could not access the rest of the article, my browser sooo slow.
So was there any mention of a plot?
Dad up to his eyebrows in debt and no job, wifey spending more income then they had, an affair?
Guns just dont call you like a demon in the wild to come shoot the wife and kill yourself.
He was obviously suicidal/depressed/pissed off but cleary not to happy with her either. Yet did not kill (thank God) the kids.
However if the kids have no family to go to they will now be in the govt. foster care system...which could be like a living hell.
What were they chatting about?
“...was in a backpack hanging from the front door.”
There’s the problem right there. I’m always reminded in these cases of an old Doonesbury cartoon where some reporter is arguing with Duke about the evils of guns and says “Don’t you know that most gun deaths are between people that know each other?” Duke replies “Exactly!! The wife needs to be able to defend herself!”
Of course to the liberals (like Trudeau) that is backwards logic. Not to me though. My wife and kids have instructions to shoot me if I ever go weird and whacked out on them. (I may have to rethink that one though as my girl’s enter their teens and I don’t let them stay out past curfew!)
I have no idea.......only what I read. Check my post upthread for a better article.
Guns don't go berserk nor do they kill anyone. They are inanimate objects.
I’m sorry about your old friend.
I don’t know specifically about murder-suicides, but if you’re just talking about murder, it’s more than a weekly event. Only 52 weeks in a year, but annually over a thousand women are killed by their partners here in America.
The good news is that this rate has declined some. According to the Department of Justice (see http://www.ojp.usdoj.gov/bjs//homicide/tables/intimatestab.htm ), in the 80s, the death toll averaged 1,500. For the first half of this decade, it never topped 1,200.
Better news? The rate of men killed by their partners has declined drastically since the 70s. Compare 1,304 murders in 1976 to 329 in 2005. It’s a stunning decline.
I am inclined to attribute that decline to feminism, myself.
Yes, prayers for those poor children. What a terrible thing for them to live with.
My best friend's brother killed himself in front of his wife and two year old child. All because a woman ended the affair they'd been having. It was a very selfish act. He left three children to wonder what they may have done wrong. Kids always seem to think they are the cause of every bad thing that happens with their parents.
One such murder-suicide (man shot girlfriend then himself) happened in front of a house I lived once. On the very same day, two other such murder-suicides happened in other parts of the same town. Each one was given a line in the crime-blotter on page 20-something. So, this type of murder-suicide seems to be so common that not much attention is paid to these stories, as tragic as each story is.
But, the press sure is paying a lot of attention to this one.
