WASHINGTON The awarding of the Nobel Peace Prize to President Barack Obama landed with a shock on darkened, still-asleep Washington. He won! For what?
For one of America's youngest presidents, in office less than nine months and only for 12 days before the Nobel nomination deadline last February it was an enormous honor.
The prize seems to be more for Obama's promise than for his performance.
The Nobel committee, it seems, had the audacity to hope that he'll eventually produce a record worthy of its prize.

It'll last a month or so: even less if every *conservative* commentator mentions "Nobel Peace Prize, just like Yasser Arafat, whose group was behind the massacre of Israeli Athletes at the 1972 Olympic Games, and just like Al Gore, who championed Global Warming. In other news, Chicago is seeing its earliest snowfall EVER."
And then the Nobel committee will have shot its wad, and squandered its credibility. I think Dilbert uses the term "crudability."
Cheers!
“It should be awarded on Halloween.”
April Fools’s Day would be more appropriate.

The Nobel Peace Joke has a brand new punch line.
n00bel Peace Prize.
The morning talk radio show that I listen to occasionally pretends to be "Fair and Balanced" but they're really huge libs and big BO supporters. They just have an occasional nod to conservatives...that's all.
Anyhoo - even these liberal grunts were like: "What? They gave it to Obama?! This is a really, really dumb move! He hasn't earned it yet! I'm sick and tired of this cheerleading!!"
And so on.
A FReeper posited that instead of Health Care being BO's Waterloo, that something trivial would pop up instead. Between the (ig)Nobel Prize, and the Olympics....I'm in agreement. BO may have just jumped the shark.
Neville Chamberlain got screwed!
I checked out the Le Monde and Der Speigel sites using Google Translate.
The comments range from “I love you Obama” to “Hope Hope” to “It’s too early, he hasn’t **had a chance** to do much yet.”
A handful express disappointment that he hasn’t yet carried out his planned retreats and appeasments, or his global warming destructiveness.
The Euroweenies love our Socialist president, so much HOPE.
No surprise. Most winners are either anti-american, BS artists or terrorists. Al Gore, Nelson Mandela, Yassir Arafat, Jimmy Carter, Kofi Annan, the UN all won and all despise and/or are envious of the US.
Guessing who’s going to win the NP is like guessing which nut shell the ball is under. I’m shocked it wasn’t given posthumesely to Ted Kennedy! Next time could be Barney Frank. Let your imagination run wild.
WELL! ZERO HUSSEIN has finally OUTDONE JIMMAH EARL CARTER and ALBERT “NITWIT” GORE! What a Badge of IDIOCY the Nobel Peace Prize has Become!and what a Slap in the Face to the Jewish People Worldwide! even those 90% who Voted for OBOZO! Do the Israeli’s agree with this award to ZERO?
There. Fixed it.
It took several hours, but AP finally found a positive spin to put on it.
The Nobel Peace prize has been a joke for a long time. This just turned it into a stupid joke.
The person who should be really pissed is Bill Clinton who deeply coveted a Nobel.
Somebody please compile profiles of the other 17 nominees so we can compare their entries to Obama. If Obama had an ounce of shame to balance his 100 ton ego he would politely decline this comical award.
And Reagan got what for knocking down the Berlin Wall and getting Gorbachev to agree to arms treaties...?
An absurd and shameless example of political correctness.
>>> They ought to just drop the pretense and rename it the “Nobel Enemy of America Prize”. <<<<
Yes. I agree that nails it.
A formerly esteemed and honorable organization goes overtly Socialist and anti-American, thus becoming a despicable political sycophant and dishonoring the historic intent of its founder.
Pretty much everything Obama has ever gotten has either been because of white guilt or because of irrational belief he might eventually accomplish something.
