Comment: absurd decision on Obama makes a mockery of the Nobel peace prize

The award of this years Nobel peace prize to President Obama will be met with widespread incredulity, consternation in many capitals and probably deep embarrassment by the President himself.
Rarely has an award had such an obvious political and partisan intent. It was clearly seen by the Norwegian Nobel committee as a way of expressing European gratitude for an end to the Bush Administration, approval for the election of Americas first black president and hope that Washington will honour its promise to re-engage with the world.
Instead, the prize risks looking preposterous in its claims, patronising in its intentions and demeaning in its attempt to build up a man who has barely begun his period in office, let alone achieved any tangible outcome for peace.
The pretext for the prize was Mr Obamas decision to strengthen international diplomacy and co-operation between peoples. Many people will point out that, while the President has indeed promised to reset relations with Russia and offer a fresh start to relations with the Muslim world, there is little so far to show for his fine words.

It's the “Obamanation era”... awards given for “trying”... I guess we'll just have to supplant the saying “all the credibility of a Ted Kennedy neckbrace” or “all the credibility of an Elvis black belt” with, “all the credibility of an Obama Nobel Peace Prize”.
The world is a much more dangerous place with this arrogant, self-aggrandizing, America-hating ignoramus. Pathetic and depressing to say the least.

The peace prize has been a joke for a long time but this takes it to new levels of absurdity. What will they say when Obama’s weakness brings about a nuclear armed Iran and nuclear war? We shouldn't expect the pedophiles who hand out this prize to understand the concept of achieving peace through strength.

Maybe they should give two more two the Obama daughters. Why not, they’ve done just as much as their dad?

Also...Adolph Hitler, Yasser Arafat and noteably missing are Pope John Paul II, Ronald Reagan, George HW Bush, and George W Bush. So, what kind of award is it really? Phony baloney...

obama is presiding over two wars, has dozens of foreign detainees in Gitmo, has caused record divisiveness and political unrest at home...and has basically accomplished nothing domestically other than to run up the deficit. Internationally he's done nothing but embarrass the United States and encourage despots, dictators, and terrorists.
WTF is the Nobel Committee thinking?

You're right. Nobel is a meaningless political joke now.
Hey Nobel Committee, if you're reading this, please do not ever consider me for any Nobel prize. I will not accept your cheesy "award" under any circumstances.
