Thank you.
I think the 7 year old will be just fine, but the 19 year old is asthmatic and not a strong immune system.
I’m going to look into oregano oil to move this out faster.
I’ve read good things about Vitamin D3 as well.
We have just been through the swine flu with both kids, thankfully my hubby and I avoided it. The second case was much milder than the first, and the first one started out scary (104.4 and a trip to the ER), but turned mild very quickly.
We received a Rx for tamiflu from the ER doctor, but never used it, but we did use (on recommendation of a naturalist mom we know!)
frequent large doses of vitamin C (as Emergen-C, 1000mg/packet, 4-5 packets a day),
fresh garlic (made garlic toast with it),
Sambucol (a syrup made from elderberries which is strongly antiviral),
and, for the ones who actually showed symptoms, oscillococcinum (homeopathic flu remedy) every 4 hours for two days.
On the first day of the first child becoming sick and being diagnosed, the whole family started the recommended regimen, and all in all I’d say it worked very well for us! Just thought I would pass along the info in case it can help your family too. The Sambucol and oscillococcinum can be found in the Walgreen’s near the Zycam products, at least in this part of the country, I imagine they have a chain wide protocol. Good luck and stay well!
Oregano oil is reportedly very good. Also, please check out lemongrass (cymbopogon citrata), which is available as a tea (at HEB if you have them), and also thymol, which is a component of Listerine, and an inactive(?) ingredient in Vicks Vaporub.
