Ironic but predictable.

"You heard the mantra, 'Tax the rich, tax the rich,'" Paterson said. "We've done that. We've probably lost jobs and driven people out of the state."NO WONDER OBAMA WANTS THIS GUY GONE!!!!
He's breaking ranks with Marxist Ideology!!

Socialism only works (sort of) if everyone is a socialist. One light of economic freedom is enough to show those who desire not to be chained where the escape route is.
(Now examine why the OECD is fighting so hard against tax haven countries).

Oct. 5 (Bloomberg) — New York States income tax revenue has dropped 36 percent from the same period in 2008, Governor David Paterson said, frustrating his attempt to close a projected $2.1 billion budget deficit.
We added personal income tax, which we thought would make the falloff 10 percent to 15 percent, Paterson, a Democrat, said on CNBC today, referring to $5.2 billion in new or increased taxes. This is what is so frustrating. Its still 36 percent, meaning our revenues fell more in 2009 than they did in 2008

Wow. Color me shocked. A Dem who actually told the truth once. When you overwhelmingly overtax producers, producers will stop producing or go somewhere where they are not overtaxed. Just ask all the British Rock Stars and actors from the 60-70s.

that’s why they are pushing a Global Tax...so someday (in the words of Democrat Detroit City Councilwoman Martha Reeves) you will have...
No place to run to
No place to hide...

This is why the left is making noises about international taxing authority thru the UN or such. No tax havens — problem solved. The ‘rich’ will have nowhere to hide their ill-gotten wealth.

We must fight the Global Tax. The world can’t sustain it.

Wasn't Patterson the one who commented on Rush Limbaugh leaving, saying he would have raised taxes sooner if he had know that was what it would take to get rid of him?

The point of raising taxes based on wealth is not to raise revenue - that is merely a pretext. The point is to punish and control, to redistribute the wealth and purchase the loyalty of those to whom it is transferred.

In the next few years, it seems, we will truly test the notion of whether people will get up and move simply because of high taxes. Oh, and bad government. It's amazing that the simple, screamingly obvious reality continues to escape the author and so many others.
Getting up and moving because of high taxes and bad government is the whole premise behind the Free State Project, founded in 2001, and nearly 800 people have gotten up and moved so far. My wife and I were the first, leaving behind the 9.3% income tax, 8.25% sales tax, and idiotic gun control in San Jose, California in November 2003.
And we have friends and neighbors who got up and moved out of Massachusetts, New York, and other such states DECADES ago for exactly the same reasons.
