Some people accuse me of “red-baiting” or “McCarthyite” tactics when I use the “M-word” (Marxism) or the “S-Word” (socialism) to describe McChesney, the Free Press, and the movement they have spawned. But these are labels with real meaning and ones that McChesney himself embraces in his work. In his 1999 book Rich Media, Poor Media, he says that “Media reform cannot win without widespread support and such support needs to be organized as part of a broad anti-corporate, pro-democracy movement.” He casts everything in “social justice” terms and speaks of the need “to rip the veil off [corporate] power, and to work so that social decision making and power may be made as enlightened and as egalitarian as possible.” What exactly would all that mean in practice for media? In his 2002 book Our Media, Not Theirs: The Democratic Struggle against Corporate Media with John Nichols of The Nation, McChesney argues that media reform efforts must begin with “the need to promote an understanding of the urgency to assert public control over the media.” They go on to state that, “Our claim is simply that the media system produces vastly less of quality than it would if corporate and commercial pressures were lessened.”

Yes it is. I did the research on the article I posted above through the internet. You can google most of the people in that article and see their connections to communism.
Radfest is still held annually, it is just harder to find now. They don’t put their whole program out for any old lurker to access now. It was still sponsored through the same university in Wisconsin last time I checked.
Also, the communist party has a website, http://www.cpusa.org/
You should all pay them a visit and see how they love socialism. It is the primer for communism. Right now they are thrilled with Michael Moore’s film.

Judith Leblanc worked to organize against the Iraq war. She was born at Fort Hood Texas and has native american heritage. She works with communist organizations around the world in addition to organizing through unions, anti war movements etc.
She credits her “very progressive Methodist” church for her activism. She has supported the American Indian movement. (Many American Indians vote the Dem party line.)
Father was active in the labor movement. She fought racial oppresion.

I converted the document for az and sent it vial e-mail back to her. The document in question is a schedule for a purely progressive/socialist convention at which McChesney participated. I’m not sure what impact the html version of the schedule would now have on a thread that is all but dead.
State controlled media - the opposite of freedom.
If there were a data cache online that contained the pdf document itself that could be linked to, and if I had the html version for easy readability I’d create a new thread about it.
Though, I haven’t actually read the content of what we’re talking about here, but it sounds like we’re dealing with a who’s who of leftists?
Could be useful for a lot of people as more and more facts come to light, and more and more connections are made between Obama and all these leftist groups.
AZKathy(IIRC) mentioned that this document had been removed off of the internet, so there must be something there that someone doesn’t want others to see.
That sounds like a great reason to create a new thread about it to me. Something that can be found and refound again and again by all kinds of people trying to investigate this stuff.

I have shared the pdf with others on FR. I am off the “grid” this weekend so unable to do much with limited internet connectivity.
Check the Havens center through University of Wisconsin. (I think that was the name of the university where I first found the document.) Also look through www.cpusa.org for links to RADFEST.
It is a “community organizing” event held annualy for the left wing radicals. I think they still have lot’s of info out there, but I imagine it is harder to find their whole agenda than it was back when I found it.
