Ayers Dreams of Obama
The Corner. The National Review Online ^ | 10/07/09 | Jonah Goldberg

Posted on 10/07/2009 6:01:41 AM PDT by Jack Bull

I am not sure what to make of the story that Ayers has now admitted to writing Obama's autobiography. If it pans out, that is to my mind a very big story. Stay tuned. But I do think I should revise my earlier poo-pooing of Jack Cashill's effort to prove the Ayers-Obama connection. A while back, a close friend of mine (and a pretty famous person in NR land) harrangued me about how I didn't give Cashill's argument enough attention or consideration and that it makes a pretty persuasive case. This friend then walked me through it for a while and I was impressed. I'm still sure what the truth is but whether this latest story pans out or not, I figured I should at least withdraw some of my, uh, poo-poo.

Give Jonah credit. He has not believed in this story and he has now admitted he may be wrong. The fact is, if all of Cashill's work is reviewed and Christopher Andersen's book is read, there is no doubt. The story now is about the media. The facts are settled.

Has anyone else carried this story? I think this is huge.

A reporter has to get either Obama or that boytoy press secretary on record about this. And no weasel words in the question or answer, Obama should make it clear if he wrote the entire book, some of it, if he had help from other authors, and to outline Bill Ayers’ exact contributions to the book.

You’d think it’d be a lot bigger than it is.

The problem with this being sufficiently hugh and series is that Ayers, a cop-killing communist, could easily lie with a straight face. Was it a sham admission? It reminds me of the riddle about the tribe that always lies and the tribe that always tells the truth. Then you have Ayers, from the tribe where you can never quite tell.

“A reporter” needs to get Barry on record about a few other things too. Too bad reporters don’t work at the White House.

I think Cashill has made a very good case. I also don’t think it makes the slightest bit of difference. Zero’s supporters either know he’s a put-up job or couldn’t care less.

Dead men tell no tales.

Maybe Ayers is starting to hear things go “bump” in the night.

My GOD! Give AYERS credit for something! Dr. Cashill has proved beyond a shadow of a doubt that OBOZO is so hopeless that he cannot construct a coherent English sentence let alone flowing prose! Have YOU listened to just one of OBOZO’S stammering digressions from his trusted Teleprompter? Obviously, Hell NO!
AYERS is now the JILTED MENTOR and It LOOKS Like AYERS is rather P*SSED with His deviant former Protege’!

Oh, I agree that Ayers wrote the book, TRP. But anything out of his mouth is likely to be a straight-faced lie, so what sort of witness is he in this case? There’s always the suspicion that he’s punking us all, sort of like a verbal version of a Kenyan BC. The irony is that this is probably one of the (rare) times he’s telling the truth, but he can’t be harmed much by it, since it’s coming from his own lying mouth.

Anne Leary said the following

... Then, unprompted he said–I wrote Dreams From My Father. I said, oh, so you admit it. He said–Michelle asked me to. I looked at him. He seemed eager. He’s about my height, short. He went on to say–and if you can prove it, we can split the royalties. So I said, stop pulling my leg. Horrible thought. But he came again–I really wrote it, the wording was similar. I said I believe you probably heavily edited it. He said–I wrote it. I said–why would I believe you, you’re a liar.

He had no answer to that. Just looked at me. Then he turned and walked off, and said again his bit about my proving it and splitting the proceeds ...

Now why would Anne Leary jump in immediately and say "why would I believe you, you're a liar?" I don't know if this story is true, but she did a really poor job regardless. If you're trying to get information from someone, you don't shut them down like that ... you keep asking answerable questions.

But he raised the issue, and someone should call him on it.

I’m sure the WH has contacted him for an explanation.

If he was joking, then ask him, “why would you joke about that?”

The fact that he raised it might be a good reason to suspect his motive. It sounds to me like an audacious dare. Are we being psyched? He knows it’s a mighty hard thing to prove. (Look how hard it’s been to prove anything else about Barry’s so-called life story!)

That was the big lie - echoed by the leftist zombies, that Obama barely knew Ayers. I didn’t believe it, Obama looked like he was lying and he was.

And if Ayers is not a cop-killer himself by planting the bombs or pulling the trigger, he aided and abetted those that did.

Jack, this Goldberg fellow is always one of the first to denigrate the "Far Right." In claiming WFB's standard, the NR posse often forgets his civility to those who believed as he did, but who may not have had academic accreditation sufficient to impress Goldberg and the gang. Frankly, FR "embarrasses" them, and being proven correct doesn't help us.

Anyone, including many on this site, who took any note of Cashill's work, and then read, or even skimmed "Obama's" ridiculous book, and then X-checked any 20 passages of Ayer's book, would soon see that Ayers was more than likely the author of both, or at the very least smell a rather large literary rat.

By now, it is obvious to all but the most prejudiced that our alleged POTUS, left to his own meager rhetorical and intellectual resources, is (a) inarticulate, and (b)pretty much an idiot... or to be more charitable, at least woefully, and even perhaps invincibly ignorant. This has not gone unnoticed by those overseas who wish the United States ill.

What Goldberg is admitting, and attempting to turn into a virtue, is his complete failure to do his homework; not his Calculus homework, his remedial English Comp 101(a) homework.
