Via Greg Hengler. Heaven forbid that the average half-drunk late-night Saturday TV viewer be misinformed about our savior by a comedy show reminding them that health cares not done (which it isnt) and that Afghanistans gotten worse this year (which it has). Even if you want to clap Obama on the back for keeping his promise to send more troops, might it not perhaps be worth mentioning that hes currently rethinking the entire war of necessity mindset on which he campaigned?
Lets see if you can guess how the segment ends. Think: Media outlet is in the tank, subject is SNL skewering politicians. What footage is damned near obligatory here? And there it is, at 2:50.

I remember CNN’s objective critique of Sarah Palin skits on SNL. Of course, I’m 62 and losing it.

It is truly disgusting how in the tank for Obama the SRM is.
Surely a lot of people who never noticed before are opening their eyes!
.............nah, wishful thinking......
They can dish it out but they can’t take it.
Hey DNCCN go buy a sense of humor. Palin never said she could see Russia from her porch, SNL did.
Pray for America and Our Troops
Is this real or satire? Did CNN really do a fact check story about a comedy skit poking fun at Obama? Where in the sam hill is their sense of humor? Are they really concerned that people will see skits like this and not think as highly of Obama? Did they ever do fact checking when Bush was lampooned????????
Russia from my house? Where was the fact check on that? I hope if Palin runs she addresses this media hypocrisy in great detail.
I do remember the liberal outrage last season when they lampooned NY's governor Paterson on the show. SNL played up his blindness and had him roaming all over the set bumping into things.
However, that was the "B-joke" -- the real joke was that it was Amy Poehler's last show and she was supposed to be doing a serious "thank you and good-bye" but the NY governor was bumbling all over the set and blocking her camera shots. Typical Amy Poehler self-deprecating humor that used the NY governor as a prop for the joke.
People were still outraged, though.

The white house wouldn’t comment. That is the first smart thing he has done as president. Of course it would have been smarter to joke back with them and show you had a sense of humor. I figured he would call them out on it.
But this was just satire. It’s not to be taken seriously! That’s what we have always heard (even from some conservatives) when leaders on the right from Reagan to GWB were unfairly maligned and lampooned. Sometimes the “entertainment” media were vicious and hateful in their attacks but we were supposed to ignore it. Now that their god is in the White House the “news” media come to his defense after a mildly critical piece on a comedy show?? If it weren’t so infuriating you could almost laugh.
It is infuriating. I mean, wow.
Not sure if you can say this stuff started with the Smothers Brothers, or maybe All in the Family and that lefty Norman Lear. But I firmly believe this left wing bent in the popular culture has had a major impact on how people view the parties and ideologies. I don’t know what could have been done to change things though, short of censorship, and we don’t want that. But this portrayal through the decades of conservatives as mostly rich, white, elitist, insensitive warmongers has been a plague. I think it is the influence of the popular media that has kept Democrats on the offensive. Conservatives who think this has no effect on how people think and vote are mistaken, IMHO.
Wonder if their invite to e-mail obameter@politifact.com or truthometer@politifact.com goes right to the White House Hit List?
I'm sure CNN did the same thing when SNL made fun of Bush, right?
Right?

Larry King Live featured a long session with Ann Coulter and Kiki McLean Wednesday night.During the interview, King asked Coulter about the recent Saturday Night Live skit about Obama running through a check list of his failures as president and whether this was the beginning of a trend of media criticism of Obama.
Ann said Michelle Obama would turn on Obama before Saturday Night Live would and that the skit was good fun.
She then noted that websites like Free Republic were criticizing CNN for fact-checking the comedy skit...
