It’s hard to say in a broad way, when speaking of large groups of people (all minimum wage earners who get cancer for instance). Some probably did make bad choices and thus can only earn a meager wage. Others may be doing the best they can for whatever reason. But, that’s really not the point. Those people still have access to healthcare. If you make minimum wage, I suspect you are eligible for medicaid or other government funded healthcare options. I’m sure someone will correct me if I’m wrong.
Free will choice and some individuals getting a better deal than others...ie, Jesus said we will always have poor people.
If everything is a free will choice, how does that explain God knowing someone would get raped or murdered, and that victim having a choice? I understand God giving that choice to the murderer, but what choice does the victim have? Seems odd, that God would allow the murderers choice to take an innocents life, especially when God knew what was going to happen.
Apparently the obfuscation of the left works, at least on some people! :)
I am unwilling to accept what this Bishop understands “Christian” to mean — this is the new attack from the Left — to put a religious or moral spin on the need for “health reform.”

OK, thanks. This means that people of low income, can receive preventive medical care regularly and still get the expensive scans required for many illnesses?

Has anyone heard of the local community health center? As in, where primary care is provided totally on the backs of the taxpayers to ANYONE who walks in, rich or poor, and no, they don’t CURRENTLY check with the IRS to see where you fall....
I have read many parts of it, but I do not study it with the intention of interpreting it’s meaning.

Nope, I ain’t taking no lecture from an openly gay bishop who abandoned his wife for a guy.
Besides, Jesus Christ wants his followers to take care of the poor, hence, churches should start running their own health clinics. Jesus never said nothing about his followers petitioning Caesar to take from the producers and give a free ride to the leaches of society.
Christians, you want to provide health care for the poor? Do it yourself, like the New Testament says.
The individual is accountable for themselves.
God is not some sort of gumball machine, put in a nickle and get your hearts desire.
No amount of Government hands outs , no amount of new programs is going to change the irresponsible into responsible citizens. They have to do it for themselves.
Health Care is no different then any other responsibility of life.
If the individual is too irresponsible to access the avenues available to them now, no amount of more laws and more handouts is going to change that mindset.
Your ilk have spent trillions on poverty programs since the 1960s. Yet we still have poverty. Why? When you figure that one out you will understand why advocating even MORE Govt handouts is idiotic.
Apparently, "Bishop" Robinson's Bible is missing a few verses, too.
I don't mind if this unrepentent sinner asks what the Christian perspective should be because he is finally admitting that he not a Christian and needs Christian advice. However, if he is presuming to tell Christians what that perspective should be, then he can take a hike.
I don’t demand anything of God, I simply believe it. It certainly doesn’t mean I want to abrogate my responsibilities. It means that is the way I see it, God is ultimately, as the creator of all, responsible for all. We pay for our behavior here on earth, while we have the body that is responsible for that behavior.
This is my belief, I may be wrong, I may not, we both may be right or wrong, but I certainly can’t say out loud that this is the way God works, I’m not that arrogant. That would mean that I know the mind of God, and I don’t.
My life would certainly suck, if God had made me a rapist or murderer or someone evil, but He didn’t, so I’m constantly thankful to Him for that.
Currently, most of those "resources" are going to lawyers to sue breakaway churches from the Dioceses (such as here in Va.) who no longer want to be under the yoke of heresy.
And where are those who call themselves Christian on the issue of the enormous health risks of the male homosexual life-style, false man of God? It is a much greater risk than smoking and cuts life expectancy in half.
I understand that people that cannot afford it, have access to medical care at emergency facilities. My question is this, for an example...take a 48yo widow, nothing from her late husband, a 14yo child, working at a minimum wage with no medical insurance. She gets a pain in her breast, goes to a clinic. What happens then? Does she get a mastectomy, follow-up chemo and radiation, regular scans to follow-up on the cancer and future treatments? What about diabetes treatments?
Yes, what have I said that would suggest otherwise?
This guy was having a homosexual affair with his now “husband” or whatever he calls him while he was still really married to a woman. His reward for this conduct was a red hat. I’m sure he would have liked a nice smart pair of pumps with it, but that was the deal.
Now he pretends to know what is Christian and what is not. Sickening, just sickening.
Demanding that income be taken from 1 set of people and given to another via the tax code is NOT “Christian”
YOU have a personal duty to minister to the poor, NOT demand other people do it FOR you.
